Taim continues to pressure Pevara and Javindhra to choose whom to bond before the rebel Aes Sedai do, still insisting that they only bond Soldiers and Dedicated, but not Asha'man.

Pevara wants to leave, but Javindhra, whose behavior has been erratic lately, wants to stay. Tarna had agreed to leave, but she has changed her mind, and seems uncharacteristically cold and emotionless.

Realizing that something is very wrong, Pevara tries to make a gateway, but it doesn't work, and she realizes that they are trapped.

Mat, Thom, and Noal go by gateway to the Tower of Ghenjei. Grady will make a gateway in the same spot each day for them to return through.

Perrin feels a twinge of pain in his leg where Slayer shot him, even though it was Healed completely. Perrin and his people go by gateway to the Field of Merrilor, where many armies have already gathered.

Thom uses a bronze knife to cut an opening into the Tower. Inside, the rooms all look the same. One of the Eelfinn appears and tries to compel them with its words, but Thom and the others play music and sing to lull the creature to sleep.

Mat uses dice to decide where to go. He rolls the same number each time, making them have to go back and forth between what seem to be the same rooms, over and over. Eventually, they end up in an entirely different room. Mat recognizes it and knows that they are on the right path to find Moiraine if she is here.
