The First Twelve of the Atha'an Miere meet in Illian. Logain arrives as an emissary from Rand and asks for ships to transport food and supplies to Bandar Eban. It is learned that the Amayar have all poisoned themselves and their children due to the melting of the Great Hand on Tremalking, which signals the end of the Time of Illusion. The Atha'an Miere are obligated to send all of their ships to find and protect any surviving Amayar, but Logain still insists that all of their ships are needed to supply Bandar Eban against the coming of Tarmon Gai'don.
