Olver overhears Vanin saying that he thinks this trail was recently traveled with wagons.

Cadsuane says Hessalam used the True Power to Travel, and Cadsuane concludes that Hessalam is Graendal, who would normally have attempted to avoid using the True Power in order to hide her identity, but was in a hurry to escape and gave herself away. Aviendha struggles with guilt at not having relinquished control of the circle, which prevented the others from saving themselves, so Cadsuane tells her not to leave her circle behind again. They agree to send for each other for help if any of them senses Graendal again.

Faile sees evidence of tampering with the Horn's chest. She hides the Horn and keeps its empty chest as bait. Vanin and Harnan find the hidden Horn, but they drop it and run when a Blight creature attacks. Faile retrieves the Horn, but more beasts attack. She gives orders for a forced march into the Blasted Lands to flee the beasts.
