He discovers that the violet wall he saw earlier is in fact a dome. It is not possible to enter the dome by thinking of oneself inside of it. Realizing that other wolves are trapped inside to be hunted by Slayer, Perrin tries to go through the dome wall, but he collapses and is paralyzed. Hopper pulls him out and shows him that to pass through the dome, he must be in complete control of his mental image of himself in the dream. However, Perrin simply throws himself through, and his momentum carries him through even though he is temporarily paralyzed. Perrin removes an injured wolf from the dome while avoiding Slayer's arrows. Trollocs have surrounded Maradon but have not attacked. An Asha'man named Deepe tells Ituralde that he senses six men channeling in the enemy camp. Ituralde tells Deepe that he and the other Asha'man should leave if the city falls. Deepe tries to convince Ituralde that they should all flee now, but Ituralde will stay even if it is hopeless because he wants to delay the enemy's march south. A sudden explosion destroys the part of the wall that he and Deepe were standing on. Ituralde is taken to the sick tent and Healed. The Asha'man uses a weave that gives the illusion of wellness in exchange for more profound exhaustion later on. Yoeli's sister, in a nearby city, has lit the watchfire to indicate that help is on its way. Ituralde stages a successful ambush within the city, but he will keep the wall undefended to avoid losing soldiers while they wait for help to arrive. ← Previous Chapter Next Chapter →
