Egwene has returned to the forces of the White Tower. Min and the Seanchan army have arrived nearby.

Rand sees an all-consuming blackness where the fires of the Pit of Doom used to be, and Moridin says the blackness emerged from the husk of Shaidar Haran. Moridin seeks death, so he attacks Rand with his sword.

Lan sees two reserve forces arrive, evidence of a mistake, and decides to check on it.

Perrin senses Rand's arrival in the Pit of Doom. Perrin goes there and knocks down Slayer's arrow before it can hit Rand. Gaul holds back red-veiled Aiel men, some of whom can channel. Slayer gets away and Perrin learns that the red-veils with pointed teeth have been Turned.

The boundary between worlds is thin here, so Perrin is able to tell Nynaeve that he will use the dreamspike to prevent gateways from being made here. He activates it, and asks the wolves to guard the cave and spread out across the Borderlands.
