Mat and Tam are outnumbered, but they lead the final charge.

Rand speaks to everyone on the battlefield, saying Lan still lives. Lan rises, holding Demandred's head. Olver blows the Horn.

Birgitte is summoned by the Horn and stands over her own corpse. She kills Mellar, saving Elayne.

Artur Hawkwing tells Mat that the Heroes will only fight for the Light, regardless of who blows the Horn. He says Mat was disconnected from the Horn by a death that he doesn't remember, when Rand brought him back with balefire.

The Heroes follow Mat because he has the Dragon banner and fights on Rand's behalf. The Heroes can still be wounded and would have to go to Tel'aran'rhiod to recover, so Mat's armies still need to fight. The Dark One could incapacitate the Heroes.

Trollocs take the Horn from Olver, but Noal defeats them, having become a Hero of the Horn.
