Neald worked alongside him, turning it into a Power-wrought weapon while linked with the Wise Ones. Perrin marks the hammer with a leaping wolf and names it "he who soars," which Berelain says is Mah'alleinir in the Old Tongue. Leaving his old hammer behind, Perrin has everyone go by gateway to the Whitecloak camp, which he learned was in a perfect place to be ambushed. Berelain fears that Perrin means to attack the Whitecloaks. Faile can see that Berelain is genuinely enamored of Galad even though she explains it as a political alliance to connect Mayene to Rand through his half-brother. Faile agrees to help dissuade Perrin from attacking Galad if it seems that it is his plan. Elyas departs for the Last Hunt. Perrin has come to protect the Whitecloaks from an ambush.
