Perrin and Gaul go through the dome over the Black Tower. Lanfear appears and says that she wants vengeance against the one who caused her imprisonment.

Androl manipulates Evin into killing Abors, who was shielding Androl. Androl frees Pevara and Emarin. Taim decides to kill the prisoners with balefire, but Androl forces open a tiny gateway into which the balefire disappears.

Perrin and Gaul find two guards at the center of the dome. Lanfear says they have been Turned and explains to Perrin what Turning is. Lanfear wants to use Perrin to free herself from the Shadow. She disables the guards, then disables the dreamspike and tells Perrin how.

Androl senses the disappearance of the wall and uses gateways to defeat many of Taim's allies and to send Logain to safety. Hessalam makes a gateway through which she, Taim, and a few others escape.
