Min sees a vision of a black hand holding Callandor and reminds Rand that she suspects the weapon will be used against him. Rand and the others meet the Borderland rulers. Min sees a bloody spear over Tenobia's head, but it shines in the light. Ethenielle will marry soon, and the others will soon fight, although Min does not know if it will be today or in the Last Battle. The monarchs have come all this way to ask Rand how Tellindal Tirraso died. They are not convinced that Rand is the Dragon Reborn, and their belief will depend on his answer. Min notices that the monarchs are close enough to kill Rand before anyone would be able to stop them. Rand says that she was a clerk who died in the fighting when Demandred came for Lews Therin after he founded the Eighty and One. Relieved, the monarchs say that this proves that Rand is really the Dragon Reborn. Paitar says that an Aes Sedai Foretold of this day to his ancestor. If Rand had not been able to answer, they would have killed him because it was Foretold that he would have extinguished the Light instead of saving it. When the monarchs hesitate to swear an oath to Rand, he gets up to leave, saying that he will meet the world's monarchs tomorrow, then break the seals. Paitar is shocked, but Rand reminds him that in the Foretelling told to Paitar's ancestor, it says that Rand will "break what he must break," which proves that he will have to do it. Rand tells Tenobia that Maradon has fallen, as a reminder that they are failing their people by remaining in Far Madding. Rand asks them to summon Hurin so Rand can apologize.
