13. Towers of Midnight - Chapter 31 - Into the Void - Chapter Summary

Mat is deliberately conspicuous to draw the gholam's attention. Talmanes and the Band help Mat fight off assassins.

Mat encounters the gholam, and his men leave to let Mat fight it alone. Soon the gholam runs, kicking down the lanterns that the Band set out so Mat could see his opponent.

Later, the creature throws the ashandarei into a burning building, but Mat has two copy foxhead medallions from Elayne and starts attacking with them.

Mat uses the medallions to force the gholam into the building, where he makes it fall into the void of a gateway for Skimming. Sumeko and another Kinswoman step into the building through the gateway and close it.

Mat and Talmanes say that Elayne should pay them for getting rid of the gholam since it murdered many of her citizens.
