Mat decides that the armies need to abandon their positions. Galgan proposes asking the White Tower to retreat. Fortuona agrees to talk through a gateway to them.

Based on a viewing from Min, a member of the Blood is sent to the front lines because Min sees that he will marry soon. When Fortuona orders a woman's execution because of Min's viewing, Min objects, and gets Fortuona to agree that Min's viewings will be kept between Fortuona and Min, and not to punish anyone based on them, but to have them watched instead.

Through the gateway, they discuss the Compulsion of the great captains. Egwene urges Mat to keep his medallion close. Elayne is summoned so Mat can tell everyone his plan to abandon their positions and make a unified last stand at Merrilor, in a bid to tempt the Shadow into crushing them there. Elayne agrees to it, and the dice start tumbling in Mat's head.

Thanks to the Asha'man, Elayne's army achieved total victory, and will have a few days rest before the last stand at Merrilor.
