Meidani is bound by an oath not to tell Egwene why she hasn't left the Tower in spite of having been discovered as a spy. Egwene shows her how to make a gateway, and Meidani takes her to the secret room of the hunters of the Black Ajah.

Egwene engages in a fierce debate with the women after learning that they are making women swear a fourth oath.

She provides logical proof that Siuan was deposed unlawfully since only a minimum number of Sitters stood for it and one was Black Ajah.

She urges them to work toward restoring unity in the Tower rather than pursuing the Black Ajah and orders them to release Meidani from the fourth oath.
