A guide to completing World 7-9 in Super Mario Bros 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

How to Clear World 7-9

If you can't fly, skip this paragraph. If you can fly, you can go to the right, then start flying upward just before the bricks on the ground, then hold the run button when you're next to the Ice Bricks to get rid of them. Go past where they were, go down the hole in the platform, and you can optionally hit the middle ? Block to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower. Then get rid of the Ice Bricks on the right and break the normal bricks in the ceiling to reach a bunch of coins.

Go to the right, where there are three Note Blocks. You can hit the middle Note Block to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower. Beware of a Paragoomba that may fall through the hole above the Note Blocks. Jump on top of the middle Note Block and go up through the holes in the platforms above you. Get rid of the Ice Bricks on the left. Jump up through the opening in the ceiling.

If you skipped the first paragraph, and you want to get some coins and a Fire Flower, you can optionally fall down the left side and grab some of the Ice Bricks on the right. Then go back around the way you came so you can fall off the left side of the structure again, and go through where the Ice Bricks were. Go down the hole in the platform, and you can optionally hit the middle ? Block to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower. Then get rid of the Ice Bricks on the right and break the normal bricks in the ceiling to reach some coins.

Then get back on top of the structure, where there are three Goombas on the right. Go to the right, and jump across the Wood Blocks, onto the ledge on the right. Keep going to the right, and you find some Note Blocks. Go down below the Note Blocks (the path to the right just leads to Goombas and a dead end). Get rid of the Ice Blocks on the right and get the three coins there.

Then get rid of the Ice Blocks on the left, go up through the hole, and get rid of these Ice Blocks. Jump across the Wood Blocks to reach the area on the left with eight coins.

Then go down below the Wood Blocks and follow the path to a Green Paratroopa. After the Paratroopa, there are ? Blocks. Hit the middle one to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower.

Go to the right, and if you want coins and a 1UP Mushroom, and if your countdown timer has enough time, go down through the hole in the floor, then go left, break the brick, get rid of the Ice Bricks, go left and down the hole, then go left and hit the brick and get the three coins above where it was.

Get past the two Paragoombas on the left, then hit the brick in the ceiling and jump up through the hole, and get the many coins, and hit the empty space in the middle to get a 1UP. Run and crouch past it if you're tall to get the remaining coins if you didn't already.

Go back the way you came until you see coins beyond the wall to the right. Go up through both holes above you, get rid of the Ice Bricks to the right, then hit the brick above you, jump up and get the coins, hit the brick above where the coins on the left were, then get rid of the Ice Bricks on the left and get the coins there.

Go to the right but don't go down through the hole. You'll reach some Wood Blocks. Stay on the upper Wood Blocks and go to the right. Get rid of the Ice Bricks, get the three coins, then get rid of the next set of Ice Bricks. You can hit the ? Block to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower.

Go down the hole in the floor and get the coins on the left, then go to the right and get rid of the Ice Bricks. Go up through the hole on the right, then go right and go past the pipe, jump up on the ledge, and get the coins. Then go down the pipe. Go to the right and hit the Goal Block to complete the level.

After the Level

You can optionally go to World 7-7, World 7-8 and the Spade House if you haven't already.

Otherwise, continue on to the second fortress of World 7.
