A guide to completing the World 2 Airship in Super Mario Bros 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

How to Clear the World 2 Airship

Go to the right, but watch out for the two cannons shooting Bullet Bills. Stand on the second cannon and jump up onto the upper ledge. Dodge or stomp on the cannonballs from the diagonal cannon.

After the ledge, there are several horizontal cannons that shoot Bullet Bills. Jump onto the highest of these cannons, then from there, jump to the wooden ledge on the right. You can hit the ? Block to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower.

After this ledge, there are wooden crates down below that have six horizontal cannons shooting Bullet Bills at them (three on the left and three on the right). Fall down a gap to land on the lower level of crates, then wait until you can see the wooden floor below, then go left or right to fall down onto the wooden floor. Then go to the right and make your way up the wooden crates on the right.

From the top of the wooden crates, jump onto the ledge above and to the right of you. Then go to the right, but be careful of the Rocky Wrenches that come up from the windows and throw wrenches at you. You can stand on top of them before they come all the way up, but be sure to jump before they throw a wrench. Otherwise, you'll get hurt. You can jump on them to stomp them, or you can hit them with a fireball.

After that, there are two more cannons, followed by the pipe that leads to the airship boss.

Morton Koopa Jr.

Morton will shoot magic rings at you from the magic wand. The rings get bigger as they move farther away. Dodge the rings, and jump on top of Morton, or hit him with Fireballs.

After Morton is defeated, pick up the Magic Wand and you will clear World 2. You'll get a letter from the Princess, who gives you a Lakitu's Cloud (a.k.a. Jugem's Cloud). This can be used on the world map to skip past a level. But if you lose a life after going past a level, you'll be sent back to the area before the level that you skipped with the Lakitu's Cloud. You can avoid this by using a Warp Pipe if there is one in your part of the map, or just by clearing a level.

Now you'll automatically go to World 3. The warp pipe just leads to a dead end, so just go to World 3-1 (which is almost entirely underwater, making it a good choice for the Frog Suit).
