World 6-4

A guide to completing World 6-4 in Super Mario Bros 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

How to Clear World 6-4

Go to the right and jump onto the small hill. You can make a running jump from there to reach the Donut Lifts on the left and get the three coins.

Go back to the small hill. There is a Rotary Lift that spins and stops. Try to land on it when it stops, then jump onto the ice on the right before the lift starts spinning again.

There are three coins with a Rotary Lift beneath them. Try to land on the Rotary Lift when it stops, and jump off again to get any remaining coins, but beware of the Goomba that falls from above on the right. Then jump up through the hole that the Goomba fell down.

Go to the right, go down the stairs made of ice, and if you have a tail, you can try to hit the brick, then jump on top of the brick to get the 1UP Mushroom. Otherwise, carefully get on the ice block beneath the brick. Jump and hit the brick to make a 1UP Mushroom come out. Try to jump on top of the brick to get the mushroom. Then jump onto the ice on the right.

There is a hidden Magic Note Block to the right of the two big blocks of ice. Get the two coins above the ice, then jump onto the wooden platform, but jump back off onto the ice, because there isn't enough room to stand on the platform when it goes beneath the ice. Get back on the platform when it comes back out, and try to jump up to reveal the hidden Magic Note Block, which is up against the right side of the ice. If you miss, you should jump on top of the ice and wait for the platform to reach its starting point before you try again. Before that, you can stay on the platform to get some coins and try to hit the ? Block, which contains a Super Mushroom or Super Leaf.

If you revealed the Magic Note Block mentioned in the previous paragraph, you can jump on it and press the Jump button at the correct moment to be launched into a Coin Heaven, an area in the clouds with a lot of coins. Go down the pipe at the end to return to the main area, and float down and to the left until you're on the ice blocks to the left of a P Switch, and skip the next paragraph.

If you didn't reveal the Magic Note Block, or you just want to skip the Coin Heaven, then you can jump from the moving wooden platform to the next wooden platform, then to a platform of two wooden blocks, then jump to the next wooden platform, and one more after that. It's followed by a column of ice blocks. Jump on those ice blocks.

After those ice blocks, there is a P Switch on top of some bricks. Step on the P Switch and fall through those bricks. Then, if you didn't use a P Wing before the level, go to the right and try to run and crouch (if tall) through the coins beneath the Rotary Lift. This will allow you to skip that Rotary Lift. If you used a P Wing before the level, you can fly straight up from where you stepped on the P Switch to get coins in the shape of a cross. The uppermost coin of that cross is actually a brick that contains many coins, so keep flying straight up into that brick/coin to get all the coins that it contains. Then you can fly to the right to find coins in the shape of a square. The space in the middle of the square contains a hidden brick, which contains a 1UP Mushroom.

If you didn't use a P Wing before the level, jump over the second Rotary Lift, then get the two coins over the gap. A Flame Chomp will appear. Try to stomp on it if you can safely do so. Then try to get the coins over the next Rotary Lift. If you have to touch the Rotary Lift, try to hit the left side from above so it pushes you to the right.

You can run and slide beneath the next Rotary Lift, then try to hit the left side of the next Rotary Lift from above so it pushes you to the righ. Then you can try to get the three coins after that Lift. Then you will need to once again try to hit the left side of the next Rotary Lift from above to make it push you to the right.

From there, you can run to the right and hit the Goal Block to complete the level.

After the Level

If you can reach either of the Hammer Bros, you can fight them for a chance to get a Starman or a Lakitu's Cloud.

You can then go to World 6-5 or World 6-6.
