A guide to completing World 3-2 in Super Mario Bros 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

How to Clear World 3-2

Be aware that you can get a few extra coins and a 1UP Mushroom if you're Raccoon Mario by the end of the level.

In this level, Red Cheep-Cheeps will swim back and forth in the water, and they will sometimes hop up out of the water to try to hit you, so keep an eye on them. You can stomp them or shoot them with fireballs.

Go to the right and jump across the two platforms that are moving along zig-zagging paths.

Next, there is a platform made of Donut Lifts. If you stand too long on a Donut Lift, it will fall. Hit the ? Block to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower (but if you're Raccoon Mario and you want the extra coins and 1UP at the end of the level, don't get the Fire Flower).

Jump on the next wooden platform, but jump and hit the column of wooden blocks as you go past, and a Starman will come out. Quickly jump left onto the wooden blocks to get the Starman, then quickly run back onto the moving platform and try to get the coins. A Red Paratroopa is flying around here. The ? Block under the coins just contains one coin.

The ? Block after that contains another Starman. There are three coins after that.

When you reach the end of the platform's path, jump onto the Donut Lifts and hit the ? Block to get yet another Starman, then jump onto the next moving platform.

When you see a Red Paratroopa, you're about to reach some bricks. Hit the third brick, but stay on the platform until it's near the end, and jump up and get the three coins, then go to the left and step on the P Switch. Jump onto the platform of bricks to the left of the pipe (dodging fireballs from the Venus Fire Trap as needed), then jump and hit the empty space to the left of the coin to get a 1UP Mushroom. To the right of the pipe, the upper brick (which will look like a coin if the P Switch is still in effect) contains a coin and the lower brick contains a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower (but if you're Raccoon Mario and you want the extra coins and 1UP at the end of the level, don't get the Fire Flower). If you hit the lower brick, make sure to jump up out of the water to try to stomp any Red Cheep-Cheeps that attack. Then jump up the bricks and wait for the Venus Fire Trap to go back down into the pipe, then jump onto the pipe and press Down to go down the pipe.

If you're Raccoon Mario, you can go to the right and run to the left to fill your P Meter, then fly up above the wooden platforms to find 7 coins, as well as a wooden platform going around a track. Above and to the left of the track, there is a hidden block that contains a 1UP Mushroom. If you're standing just to the left of the leftmost wire of the track, you can jump straight up to hit the brick.

When you're done, go back to the right and hit the Goal Block to complete the level.

After the Level

After you complete the level, you can visit the first Toad House, where you will get a Frog Suit (all three chests contain it).

Then you can continue to World 3-3.
