A guide to completing World 3-7 in Super Mario Bros 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

How to Clear World 3-7

Go to the right and bump into the top wooden block to get a Super Mushroom or Super Leaf. The ? Block above it contains one coin.

To the right, there are monsters known as Spikes, which will pull a spiky orb out of their mouths and throw it at you. The orb goes in a straight line like a Bullet Bill. You can stomp on these monsters, but be sure not to do so when it's holding an orb above its head. If you're close to a Spike, it will move toward you.

Jump over the gap. There are two more Spikes on top of the hills after the gap.

Next, there are some bricks, but you can later turn them into coins (and one of them has a 1UP Mushroom in it) so ignore them for now. There are two more Spikes to the right.

After a gap, there is a Spike and a Green Koopa Troopa. There isn't anything hidden in the wooden blocks, so just go past these monsters, to where there is a pipe. There isn't anything hidden in the pipe either, so go past that, to where there are two Spikes, a Green Koopa Troopa, and some bricks above them, with a Spike on the bricks. First, hit the wooden block on the left to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower. Then get on those bricks, then jump and hit every brick above you. There are coins and a vine in these bricks. Jump from the hill on the left to reach the vine. Climb up.

At the top of the vine, collect all the coins as you go to the left, then hit the brick to reveal a P Switch. Jump on it, then quickly run to the left and fall down off the left side to fall through the coins below. The coin to the right of the upper-left coin is secretly a brick that contains a 1UP Mushroom, so stand on the wooden block and hit it from below to make the mushroom come out.

There is an optional hidden area that you can reach, where you can get a lot of coins and a Lakitu's Cloud (only usable on the World Map) but if you go there, you'll finish the level without being able to hit the Goal Block. To get there, go to the right until you reach the bricks with the vine. Climb the vine and stand on top of the wooden block at the top, then run and jump to the right and land on the platform of clouds. Stand on the middle cloud and jump up to reveal a Magic Note Block. Jump on it and press the jump button at the correct moment, and you'll be launched into the hidden area, where there are a lot of coins, and a treasure chest at the end that contains a Lakitu's Cloud. After you open the treasure chest, the level will automatically be completed.

If you decide to skip the hidden area, then after the area with the vine, there is a pipe with a Venus Fire Trap, followed by a Spike, followed by another pipe with a Venus Fire Trap.

After that, there are some blue stairs, each with a Spike on it. The middle wooden block contains a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower. At the end, there is a Green Paratroopa.

Finally, go to the right. There is a Spike under the Goal Block, so be careful. Hit the Goal Block to complete the level.

Next, you can go to the second fortress of World 3 (which is almost entirely underwater, making it a good choice for the Frog Suit) or (if the bridge is down) World 3-8.
