A guide to completing World 7-2 in Super Mario Bros 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

How to Clear World 7-2

If you get 46 coins in this world, a White Mushroom House will appear on the World Map, where you will get a P-Wing. However, this can only be done if you wear the Frog Suit.

Go to the right and jump over the Walking Piranha. Pick up an Ice Block (hold the run button while next to one) and if you're not wearing the Frog Suit, kick the Ice Block into the leftmost ? Block to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower. Hit the other ? Block to get a coin.

Then use an Ice Block to get rid of the Walking Piranha on top of the pipe. Go down the pipe, then swim to the left and try to get the coins above the P Switch before you hit it. Then hit the P Switch and swim to the right and try to get the coins. If you are wearing the Frog Suit, go past the pipe you came down and get the remaining coins before the P Switch runs out. Those were the last of the coins in this level, so you no longer need the Frog Suit (but you can keep it equipped if you wish).

Continue swimming to the right, as far as you can go, and go up the pipe at the end. You are in an area with a Green Paratroopa, but you can't go up above because there are hidden Note Blocks above you. Jump up in this area to reveal the hidden Note Blocks. Then go to the pipe on the right and go down. You reach a room where you can hit a ? Block to get a Super Leaf. Then go back up the pipe, go to the left and down that pipe, and swim to the left, and go up the first pipe you encounter.

If you skipped the Super Leaf, then just go past the pipe that pushes you down, and go up the pipe after that.

Avoid the fireballs from the Venus Fire Trap on the right, then go to the right and jump on the middle Note Blocks to go straight up and hit a hidden brick that contains a 1UP Mushroom.

Then jump onto the tall pipe on the right. If you don't want a Fire Flower, skip this paragraph. If you do want a Fire Flower, you can go down this tall pipe, then go to the right, past two Walking Piranhas, and when the path splits, jump up to the upper path (the lower path just leads to a dead end.) There is a Piranha Plant going up and down in the second pipe. Go past it and hit the ? Block to get a Fire Flower. Then go back to the left until you can't go farther, and go back up the pipe there.

From here, go to the right, past a lot of Venus Fire Traps, a Piranha Plant, and a Walking Piranha. Look for a pipe that goes farther down into the ground than the others, and go down it. You will fall next to another pipe. Go down it, then go to the right and hit the Goal Block to complete the level.

After the Level

From the level that you just cleared, go into the pipe on the right, go through the underground passage. If you want to "skip" the next level, you can use a P Wing before entering it. When you're ready, enter World 7-3.
