How to clear Donut Plains 1 in Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy Advance.

How to Clear Donut Plains 1
If you're on Yoshi, it's recommended to press A to hop off and do this level without Yoshi. If you're Fire Mario, make sure to be facing the left side of the screen if you press B, because there is an enemy up ahead that you don't want to hit with a fireball.
Go to the right and you will see a Super Koopa with a flashing cape. Stomp on it, and it will drop a Cape Feather. Take the Cape Feather and you will become Caped Mario.
Caped Mario Abilities
As Caped Mario, if you hold the run button to run along the ground, you will eventually stick your arms out to the sides. At this point, you can press the jump button to start flying.
After you start flying, you eventually stop flying and start falling, but if you keep holding the run button before you start falling, your cape will attach to your feet and you can use it to keep floating.
Press the directional pad away from where you're facing to float up, and press the directional pad toward where you're facing to start diving downward. If you keep diving, you'll hit the ground and make the ground shake, defeating enemies on the ground.
You can press X or Y to spin while wearing the cape, and you can defeat some enemies by hitting them with the spinning cape.
Donut Plains 1, Continued
Throughout this level, there are coins in the sky. Feel free to fly if you feel like collecting the coins up above.
In the area with the Super Koopas, after the Super Koopa with the flashing cape, there are two more Super Koopas, but they don't have flashing capes.
Above that, there are four coins and a Dragon Coin.
Just to the right of these hills, there is a bush that you can walk past to get a Super Mushroom. In the sky in this area, a Super Koopa swoops down and then up.
Next, there is a Confused Chuck who throws baseballs at you. He jumps whenever you jump. You can hit him with your spinning cape, or just stomp him until he is defeated.
After that, there is a hill with a Super Koopa and four coins, and there is a Super Koopa with a flashing cape on the ground after the hill.
Next, there is a ledge with a Volcano Lotus plant that spits four fireballs after its mouth flashes for a few moments. The fireballs spread up and out, then slowly float downward. You can defeat the Volcano Lotus with a spin attack with your cape. You can get rid of the fireballs the same way.
Next, there are two Koopa Paratroopas on the ground and a Super Koopa on the hill. After the hill, there is a Dragon Coin.
After a hole in the ground, there are two Blocks. Each one contains a coin.
After that, there is a pipe that you can only go up if you visited the Yellow Switch Palace earlier. If you go up the pipe, skip this paragraph. If you don't go up the pipe, you encounter a Super Koopa with flashing cape, a Flying Piranha Plant, and a Confused Chuck, followed by the Midway Gate, a hole in the ground, a bush that has a secret Super Mushroom in it if you walk past (and a swooping Super Koopa in the sky above that) followed by three Super Koopas and two coins after that.
If you go up the pipe, you find a 1-Up Chamber. Each row of three Prize Blocks can give you a 1-Up Mushroom if you hit the three blocks in the correct order. The correct order is secret, so you just have to hit them and hope that you get the correct order. After you have finished each row, jump up through the floor between the Prize Blocks to try the next row, and so on. Go through the pipe at the top.
There are two pipes, one in the ground and one hanging from above. If you want a lot of coins, go down the one in the ground. Get the Cape Feather from between the Gray Blocks, then hit the Message Block to read about how to fly.
Then run to the right, and when you hit the Triangular Block, you will start running up the side of the pipe. When you reach the tops of the pipes, keep running, then jump before the end while you keep holding the run button, and you can glide through the rows of coins. There are also coins down below.
At the end, if you don't reach the tops of the pipes, go down to the ground and run over the Triangular Block to run up the side of the pipe like before. After these pipes, fall down to find a pipe by itself. Go down that pipe and you will come out of the pipe hanging from above, which is next to the pipe that you went down to reach the coin area.
To the right, jump over the hole. There is a Super Koopa that swoops down and up in the sky. Then there is a Super Koopa with a flashing cape, and a Volcano Lotus on the ledge. Then on the next ledge, there is a Prize Block that contains a Yoshi Egg, followed by a Super Koopa.
After that, there is a Confused Chuck beneath four Blocks. Hit the rightmost of these four blocks to make a Beanstalk appear, but be careful to dodge the baseballs. Jump back on top of the Blocks and go to the left so that you can jump off of Yoshi with a Spin Jump without breaking the Blocks. Then climb up the Beanstalk and get the Dragon Coin on top of the clouds.
Go back down the Beanstalk. To the right, there are two Blocks, followed by a Block by itself down below. If you land on top of this block and go counterclockwise around it, a 1-Up Mushroom will appear when you go past the upper-right corner of the block the second time. But you might want to get rid of the Confused Chuck to the right of that block first.
After the Confused Chuck, there is a ledge with a Volcano Lotus in the middle, and a Dragon Coin above the Volcano Lotus. Yoshi can eat the Volcano Lotus.
To the right of that, there is a Confused Chuck on three Blocks. This is followed by several hills on top of each other, with a Super Koopa with flashing cape at the bottom, and three Super Koopas without flashing capes above that. After these Super Koopas, there is a Dragon Coin.
If you are Caped Mario, you can stand on the top hill and run to the right and start flying. Try to fly onto the thin yellow pipes up above. If you make it, you can hold X or Y to pick up the key and put it into the keyhole. If you do so, you will unlock Donut Secret 1 and the level will end.
Otherwise, if you want to finish the level normally, go past the pipe that is after the Super Koopas and Dragon Coin. There is a Message Block after the pipe, which tells you that if a location on the map is marked with a red dot, that location contains a secret exit (see previous paragraph).
Then go to the right. If you visited the Yellow Switch Palace, there will be a Volcano Lotus on top of a Yellow Block. If not, the Volcano Lotus will be on the ground. After that, there is a Confused Chuck, followed by the Giant Gate. Go past the Giant Gate to complete the level.
After the Level
If you used the secret exit, the north path will unlock and you can go to Donut Secret 1. If you used the Giant Gate to complete the level, the west path will unlock and you can go to Donut Plains 2.
