How to Clear Chocolate Fortress

Go to the right, and wait for the two spikes to move away from each other before you jump through. There is a Dry Bones right after the spikes.

The next pair of spikes both move up and down at the same time, so wait for the floor spike to go to the bottom before you try to jump over it.

Next, there is a pit of boiling chocolate, but if you have been to the Red Switch Palace, the pit will be covered by Red Blocks. If not, jump over the pit.

To the right, wait for the spike to go up, then jump up onto the ledge and go the right.

There is a pit of boiling chocolate to the right, and a spike in the ceiling that goes up and down. Wait for the spike to go up before you try to jump over the pit.

After that, there is a Dry Bones under a Prize Block that contains a Cape Feather. Beware of the flames that start to appear from the right side of the screen in this area.

To the right, wait for the ceiling spike to go up, then jump over the chocolate pit and go right, and jump over the next chocolate pit.

Next, there is a spike in the floor that goes up and down. Wait for it to go down, then jump over it. Then to the right, wait for the ceiling spike to go up, then jump over the chocolate pit and go past it.

After two chocolate pits (the right pit will be covered up if you have been to the Blue Switch Palace), there is a Dry Bones, then a chocolate pit and two floor spikes that go up and down at different speeds. Watch them carefully, then jump over them when both are moving downward, if possible.

Then there are two pairs of floor/ceiling spikes that move up and down at the same time, and spikes that close and open. Jump past those, then go through the Midway Gate, then go through the door.

Part 2

Go to the right. There is a Thwomp that is above a pit of spikes. Make the Thwomp crash down, then as soon as it goes far enough up for you to go past, hold the run button and go to the right so you reach the floor to the right of the spikes.

Go to the right and let the Thwomp crash down, then jump over the raised platform and go to the right.

The next Thwomp is similar but there is also a Thwimp that bounces left and right over the raised platform. Make the Thwomp fall, then jump over the raised platform whenever the Thwimp is out of the way.

Go to the right to find two Thwomps. Make the first Thwomp fall, then when it is going back up, go down through the gap to the left of the Prize Blocks. The Prize Block on the left has a Cape Feather, and the others each contain a coin. Make the Thwomp on the right fall down, then go past it and jump over the gap, but watch out for the Thwimp on that side.

After the Thwimp, go past the Thwomp, then there is a Thwomp with a taller raised platform under it. If you haven't been to the Red Switch Palace, there will be a Thwimp bouncing left and right over this raised platform. If you have been to the Red Switch Palace, the Thwimp will be trapped under Red Blocks.

After that, there is a Thwomp above a pit of spikes. Try making it fall down, then jump over it before it goes back up.

Then there are two Thwimps that both jump left and right at almost the same time, and two Thwimps where one jumps after the other does. Get past them, and there is a pit of spikes just before a Thwomp. Make the Thwomp fall, but land on the left side of the spikes, then jump over the spikes and past the Thwomp as it goes back up.

Then there is a Thwomp with two pits of spikes, one to the left and one to the right. Make the Thwomp fall, then as it goes back up, jump onto the platform under it, then jump past the next pit of spikes.

This is followed by a similar Thwomp, except its pits of spikes are bigger. If you have been to the Blue Switch Palace, the Thwomp will be blocked and you can just go past it. If you haven't been to the Blue Switch Palace, you will have to go past the spikes and Thwomp the same way as the previous one.

The next Thwomp will be blocked if you have been to have been to the Red Switch Palace. There is a Thwimp bouncing on the pits of spikes that you have to get past even if you have been to the Red Switch Palace.

After that, if you have been to the Green Switch Palace, there will be a Green Block that you can hit to get a Cape Feather.

Go to the right and go through the Chocolate Door to face the fortress boss.

Reznor

There are four Reznor triceratops on four spinning platforms. You have to hit a platforms from underneath to defeat the Reznor on top of it. After you defeat the first Reznor, the floor will start to disappear, so jump onto an empty Reznor platform to avoid falling into the lava.

After the Level

After you defeat all four Reznors, the path to the south will unlock, and you can go to Chocolate Island 4.
