How to Clear Butter Bridge 1

This level automatically scrolls from right to left.

If you get at least 30 coins before a certain point in this level, you can get a 1-Up. The count is NOT based on how many coins are displayed in the upper-right of the screen, so there is no need to stop collecting coins if it says 99 in the upper-right corner.

Go to the right. There are Piston Lifts that look like thin mushroom platforms. When you land on one, it sinks down while another platform rises up. Whenever you jump, the platforms slowly move back to their original positions. Make sure to jump onto the rising platform before it gets too far away.

Get the three coins above the first pair of Piston Lifts, then jump to the next pair, where there is a red Koopa Paratroopa and three coins.

Then there is a Flimsy Lift with a Dragon Coin. The Flimsy Lift will fall after you stand on it, so don't jump on it too soon or it will fall before the screen scrolls to the right enough for you to jump on the next Piston Lift. There is a Flimsy Lift between these Piston Lifts, but wait for the send Piston Lift of the pair to come into view before you jump on the Flimsy Lift.

After that, there is a red Koopa Paratroopa, then a Dragon Coin. Jump onto the platform after the Dragon Coin.

Next, there is a pair of Piston Lifts with a Dragon Coin between them.

After that, if you have been to the Red Switch Palace, there will be a platform of Red Blocks that you can jump onto. If not, you have to stomp the green Koopa Paratroopas that are coming from the right to reach the platform beyond the gap.

Next, there are several pairs of Piston Lifts with coins between them. The final pair of Piston Lifts has a Dragon Coin far down below. You can stay on the rightmost Piston Lift to make it keep going downward, then get the Dragon Coin when it's low enough. Then jump to get the six coins on the right.

Next, there are several rows of Blocks. If you want to get the 1-Up from the Bonus Block later, you have to hit the Blocks that secretly contain coins (see below). If you got all the coins in the level so far, you will need six more coins.

The screen will scroll upward in this area, so be sure to jump to the next row before you're too far down. In the lowest row, none of the Blocks contains coins, but there is a Prize Block that contains a Cape Feather. In the second to lowest row, the third Block from the right contains many coins, so hit it repeatedly until it turns into a Brown Block. In the row above that, the third Block from the left contains coins. In the top row, the second block from the left contains a 1-Up Mushroom, and the second block from the right contains one coin.

From the top row of Blocks, jump to the right. There is a pair of Piston Lifts with a red Koopa Paratroopa that goes up and down between them.

To get the Dragon Coin on the right, stand on the rightmost Piston Lift until you can jump up through the coin, onto the Flimsy Lift. Then go down to the platform below, but beware of the red Koopa Paratroopas that fly from the right.

After that, there is a pipe and a Bonus Block. If you have collected 30 or more coins in this level, it gives you a 1-Up Mushroom. If you have collected fewer than 30 coins in this level, it just gives you one coin. Go down the pipe.

Go to the right and go through the Giant Gate to complete the level.

After the Level

The path to the east unlocks, and you can go to Butter Bridge 2.
