Let's Play a Game

You and a researcher hear a creepy voice coming from the Eastern Temple, and it's up to you to investigate.

Where to Start the Quest

Talk to Sago in front of Eastern Temple, which is in Eastern Hyrule Field. You will find it east of Hyrule Castle Town.

How to Complete the Quest

Go into the Eastern Palace. You can defeat the electrified enemies with echoes, or switch to swordfighter form and shoot them with arrows, and learn the Spark echo. Then go north to the next room.

Use the boulder and other echoes to make three Sparks go into the box in the northwest corner of the room. The Sparks will move along any echoes you put in their path. Or you can just bind to the Sparks and move them into the box. After you get three Sparks to go into the box, the door will open. Go through.

Before you solve the puzzle in this room, you can optionally go through the east door and make two Sparks go into the box between the two Octoroks. You will need to hold Y to make the Sparks appear on the other side of the fence. You may also need to create an obstacle on the other side of the fence, then bind to it and move it upward to make the Sparks able to move into the box. Open the chest that appears, and you will get 50 rupees. Then go west to the previous room.

You can either move the boulder away from the ramp in the corner and make the Sparks go counterclockwise around the room, or if you have the Frog Ring, you can just bind to the Sparks and jump up to push them into the box. The west door will open.

Bind to the Sparks and drop them into the pit, then open the chest to get 5 portions of rock salt. Then go down the ladder.

There is a Caromadillo Lv. 2 down below, so be careful if you go down the ladder. Bind to the two Sparks so you can drop them down below. Then jump onto the floating platform and go to the right to reach the next room.

The Sparks will have a larger electric field in the water, so be careful as you swim underwater and open the chest to get 50 Rupees. Go to the right and bind to the leftmost wooden box to move it underneath the rightmost box, then when the Spark has gone past, go to the surface and jump out onto the box. Then go down the ladder.

Go through the north door and there will be a boss battle.

Smog Boss Strategy

Smog will shoot electrified orbs at you, so dodge them. You can use boulders to trap Smog in a small space, then throw pots at it, or shoot arrows at it (you'll get electrified if you try to hit it with your sword) or use a low-cost echo (to avoid erasing any boulder echoes you used to trap Smog) to hit it.

Eventually, Smog stops and says some dialogue. Then it splits into three small clouds. Each cloud will sometimes shoot electrified orbs at you. Use echoes to make the clouds come into contact with each other. They will merge into a larger cloud. Make the remaining small cloud come into contact with the bigger cloud, and Smog will return to its original size. Hit it from a distance or with echoes as before.

Next, Smog splits into five small clouds. Follow the same strategy to make the clouds come into contact with each other until Smog returns to original size, then attack it.

Quest Reward

Smog drops a Piece of Heart when defeated. Take it, then step on the glowing spot and exit the temple. Sago gives you an Ancient Charm. It reduces the damage you take when you wear it.
