Keeping the Flame Alive - Quest Guide

With the aid of your Doman allies, you prepare to enter Halatali and rescue Raubahn.

Requirements

This quest is available if you have completed the quest In Search of Raubahn.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Hozan in Eastern Thanalan to begin the quest.

Speak with Hozan

There will be a glow around Hozan, indicating an instanced battle. Check on Hozan and there will be a cutscene, and then the battle will ensue.

Solo Duty: Keeping the Flame Alive

Go northwest and kill the Crystal Brave Archer, followed by the Crystal Brave Lancer.

Proceed to the west and kill the Crystal Brave Conjurer, followed by the Crystal Brave Lancer.

Make your way northwest along the curving path. When the path splits, go southwest. You will find Raubahn in a force field. Approach him, and after a few moments, there will be a cutscene.

Attack the Iron Cell until it is destroyed. Also kill the Acerbic Jams that appear. When the cell is destroyed, go northeast, then west and around the curving path. Kill the two Acerbic Jams in the way and proceed along the path. Go southeast to the Hall of the Provocatores and go up the stairs to the east. Kill the two Acerbic Jams there, then continue up the stairs and destroy the Humming Atomizer there.

Then go southwest and you will find some Crystal Braves. First, kill the Conjurer, then the Archer, then the Lancer. Take the Identification Key that falls after you defeat the last one.

Go northeast, then northwest until you can jump down from the bridge near the round room to the southwest where Raubahn is being held. Go southwest and check on the Magitek Device. There will be a cutscene.

Defeat the enemies in the following order.

  1. Crystal Braves Conjurer
  2. Crystal Braves Archer
  3. Yuyuhase
  4. Laurentius
  5. Ilberd

Get behind Ilberd whenever he is casting Sanguine Blade.

Afterward, there will be a cutscene. This one is important, so it is recommended to watch it either now or via the Unending Journey in an inn room.

Speak with Doware

Go to the quest icon on the map and talk to Doware. There will be a cutscene.

Speak with Alphinaud

Talk to Alphinaud to proceed.

Enter the Waking Sands

Go to Western Thanalan and go to the quest icon on the map. Enter the Waking Sands and there will be a cutscene. This one is important, so it is recommended to watch it either now or via the Unending Journey in an inn room.

Speak with Alphinaud Again

Talk to Alphinaud to complete the quest.

Next Main Scenario Quest

After you complete the quest, talk to Alphinaud to accept the next quest: To Siege or Not to Siege. There will be a cutscene.
