This page explains how to complete the level 83 Endwalker quest "In from the Cold".

Requirements

This quest is available if you have completed the quest Strange Bedfellows.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Lucia in Garlemald to begin the quest.

Speak with Y'shtola

Go to the quest icon on the map and talk to Y'shtola to proceed. There will be several cutscenes in sequence. If you are ready, say Yes to proceed.

Solo Duty: In from the Cold

Go south, then east. When you fight the Tempered Imperial, use Fight or Flight and Rampart, and use them again whenever they become available. Then use Rage of Halone Combo repeatedly until the enemy is defeated. You do not have high defense, so be careful to avoid all of the enemy's attack markers.

After some dialogue, check on the Tempered Imperial. Choose to Inspect him and you will get Medical Kit. You have a limited number of them, but you can find more by checking on fallen soldiers or wrecked magitek.

Check on the Tempered Imperial again and pay your respects. It is recommended to hide from enemies from now on.

Your health auto-regeneration is not very strong, so use a Medical Kit now to restore your health.

Go south and check on the Wrecked Magitek Reaper, then go east into the broken building and check on the Small Sack. Go south from there and check on the Deceased Imperial.

Go south and check on the Wrecked Magitek Reaper, then carefully make your way west while avoiding enemies. If an enemy sees you, it will not stop attacking you if you run far away, so you may wish to battle some of the enemies one at a time to get rid of them, and use your Medical Kits to recover during and/or after the battles.

Keep going west and check on the Immobilized Magitek Reaper that you find. Go northwest from the reaper and go into the broken building. Go to the north end of the building and you find a Wounded Imperial. Talk to him to get the Identification Key.

Go south to exit the broken building. There is Fuel-Concealing Wreckage in the far northeast of the duty area. It is just south of a Wrecked Magitek Reaper there. Carefully make your way there. You can get there while staying between buildings to avoid detection.

After you check on the Fuel-Concealing Wreckage and pick up the ceruleum tank, carefully make your way back to the southwest while avoiding enemies, to return to the Immobilized Magitek Reaper. Check on it to refuel it, then check on it again to mount it.

Your Magitek Reaper can't move, so you will just need to use it to defeat the enemies that attack. You have the hotbar/crossbar actions Magitek Cannon, Diffractive Magitek Cannon, and High-Powered Magitek Cannon. Use High-Powered Magitek Cannon and Diffractive Magitek Cannon whenever they are available, and use Magitek Cannon otherwise.

After you have defeated all of the enemies, use the Dismount action in the hotbar/crossbar to disembark. Then go southwest, wait for the two Tempered Imperials to be far apart from each other, and continue going southwest.

Eventually, you find an Armed Imperial Citizen who asks for your help. When battling the enemies, use Fight or Flight and Rampart, and use them again whenever they become available. Then use Rage of Halone Combo repeatedly until the enemy is defeated. After you defeat the Morozko, go southwest and defeat the Ceruleum Zoblyn and Eblan Bear. Then go west and defeat the Morozko and Eblan Bear. Then go west and defeat the Almasty.

Afterward, go west. Wait for there to be an enemy in your enemy list with a red dot, and focus all attacks on it. Spread apart from your allies for Extreme Impact, then use a Medical Kit if you have one. When there is a line stack marker, go to the center of the battle area and stand still if you are marked so the allies can run to you. For the donut attack, run into the safe area as soon as you can. Eventually, there will be a cutscene.

When the Active Time Maneuver begins, you can quickly type randomly on the keyboard or quickly press random buttons on the controller to fill the gauge, but avoid pressing the keys/buttons for opening the map or your system settings, or other things that can open a window.

Afterward, you won't be able to control your direction. Just keep moving (auto-move does not work) until there is a cutscene.

Talk to Alisaie to complete the quest.

Next Main Scenario Quest

After you complete the quest, talk to Lucia to accept the next quest: Gateway of the Gods. There will be a cutscene.
