This page explains how to complete the Endwalker Main Scenario Quest "A Frosty Reception".

Requirements

This quest is available if you have completed the quest Best of the Best.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Tataru in The Lochs to begin the quest.

Speak with the Ironworks Pilot

There will be a glow around the Ironworks Pilot, indicating a solo duty. Check on him and there will be several cutscenes in sequence, and then the duty will ensue.

Solo Duty: A Frosty Reception

Talk to Maxima when you are ready to begin. You can choose "Go over the finer details of the plan", "Learn about mission-exclusive actions" or, if you are ready, "Commence mission".

Overview

Avoid detection while carrying out mission objectives (place explosives on magitek, and use the control terminal to deactivate the frontline magitek units). If you are seen by humans or magitek, or if guard dogs smell you, the threat awareness gauge will fill until the enemies are defeated. If the gauge fills completely, you will fail the duty.

You have several actions to help you in your mission.

• Solid Barrel Combo does single-target attacks on the enemy.
• Nebula reduces damage taken by 30%.
• Swift Deception renders you invisible to humans and magitek, but not to guard dogs.
• Silent Takedown is only available while Swift Deception is in effect, and allows you to render human soldiers unconscious, but it will damage (and alert) magitek and guard dogs.
• Bewilderment Bomb neutralizes guard dogs, but it will damage (and alert) human soldiers and magitek.
• Sort Pet Hotbar allows you to change the order of these actions.

If you are spotted, use Nebula and keep using it whenever it becomes available, then repeatedly use Solid Barrel Combo on the enemy until it is defeated.

After you use Silent Takedown on a human or Bewilderment Bomb on a dog, they will be out of the fight and will not wake up again, so there is no need to worry about fallen enemies.

Swift Deception only lasts for 10 seconds, so be ready to go back into hiding as soon as it wears off. It also wears off when you use Silent Takedown, so don't use it near other enemies, and be prepared to run to safety after using it. You will also have to wait 15 seconds before you can use Swift Deception again.

Part 1

After you talk to Maxima and choose Commence Mission, wait for the glowing barrier to disappear, then use Swift Deception to go past the guards at gate (using Silent Takedown would make you visible for the other guard, so just go past them instead) and go to the sparkling Magitek Field Control in the north wall. If Swift Deception wears off, hide and wait for it to become available again, then use Swift Deception and Silent Takedown to knock out the guard in front of the Magitek Field Control. Then interact with the Magitek Field Control to remove the barrier.

Go to the next area and use Swift Deception and Silent Takedown to remove the guard that walks near the nearest sparkling Inactive Magitek Reaper. After the guard is down, interact with the Inactive Magitek Reaper. Get rid of the other guard the same way and interact with the remaining Inactive Magitek Reapers.

After you have planted the explosives, go toward the barrier. When the Magitek Slasher has its back turned to the guard, use Swift Deception to go past the Slasher and use Silent Takedown on the guard, Then quickly use the Magitek Field Control to open the way, and go past where the barrier was before the Magitek Slashers rotate.

In the next area, there will be a circle around the guard dog to show the area where it be able to detect you. Use Bewilderment Bomb on the dog to neutralize it. Check on the Magitek Field Control that it was guarding, then go past where the barrier was.

In the next area, use Swift Deception and Silent Takedown on the human guard, then avoid the Magitek Slasher and check on the sparkling Inactive Magitek Reapers. Afterward, go to the sparkling location and check on it.

After the dialogue, wait for the Magitek Slasher to be walking away from the human guard, then use Swift Deception and Silent Takedown on the human guard and quickly check on the sparkling Magitek Field Control. If necessary, hide from the Magitek Slasher before you go past where the barrier was. After you have gone past where the barrier was, use Swift Deception to quickly go west to the storage crates along the south wall, where you will be safe from detection.

Go along the south wall and use Swift Deception and Silent Takedown on the human guard in the southwest corner. Wait for the other human guard to approach the corner and do the same. When the Magitek Slashers are in the northwest and southeast corners, use Swift Deception to go to the human guards near the guard dogs' areas and use Silent Takedown on them one by one, running back to the corner behind the crates as needed to avoid the rotating Magitek Slashers. Use Bewilderment Bomb on the two guard dogs next to the barrier (but be careful not to hit the human guard or the Magitek Slashers or they will attack), then use Swift Deception and Silent Takedown on the guard at the sparkling Magitek Field Control when the Slashers are at the corners. Use the Magitek Field Control, then go past where the barrier was.

Use Swift Deception to reach the sparkling Control Terminal, then use it. Exit the fenced area through the nearby opening and there will be a cutscene.

Part 2

Only battle the enemies that have a red dot in the enemy list. If your enemy list becomes empty, battle the other enemies, starting with the ones with the lowest HP. Afterward, go north and do the same. After that, go north once more and repeat the process.

Eventually, a Hexadrone attacks. Avoid standing in its line attack marker, then attack it quickly until it is defeated. Go north and there will be a cutscene.

Part 3

As before, only battle the enemies that have a red dot in the enemy list.

When Vergilia van Corculum appears, focus all attacks on her.

Giga Tempest damages you and all allies.

Spiral Scourge is a high-damage attack on Lucia.

Ruination is a + shaped attack centered on Vergilia.

There will be a series of line attacks with small gaps. Stand in one of the gaps.

Resin Ammunition indicates that Vergilia will begin using different attacks.

Gunberd is a line stack attack. Stand in the line indicated by the attack marker to reduce the damage.

Afterward, Resin Bomb marks you and all allies with circle attack markers that follow you. Spread apart from your allies to avoid overlapping them with your circle.

Bombs Away places slowly moving circular target markers in the area. Avoid being in their path and find a safe area between them when they stop.

Reinforcements summons many enemies into the area, and Vergilia becomes untargetable.

When you and your allies are marked with circle attack markers, start from the center and go to a safe gap between your allies and beyond the stationary circle attack markers down the center of the area.

Only battle the enemies that have a red dot in the enemy list. If your enemy list becomes empty, battle the other enemies, starting with the ones with the lowest HP.

When Vergilia reappears, focus all attacks on her.

When she places a proximity attack marker in the center of the area, move to the edge of the area to reduce the damage. At the same time, she places slowly rotating circular target markers in the area. While still at the edge of the area, avoid being in the path of the circle markers and find a safe area between them when they stop.

Request Assistance summons many enemies to the area. Only battle the enemies that have a red dot in the enemy list. Eventually, Sadu will tether to two Dotharli Khun Chuluu. At this point, only focus on defeating the enemies that are attacking the two Dotharli Khun Chuluu, starting with the enemies with the lowest HP. the Chuluu need to survive until Sadu has finished casting the Ritual of Falling Dusk. Once she finishes casting the spell, the duty will be complete.

Speak with Alphinaud

Attune to the Aetheryte, then talk to Alphinaud to proceed.

Speak with Y'shtola

Go to the quest icon and talk to Y'shtola to proceed.

Speak with G'raha Tia

Go to the quest icon and talk to G'raha Tia to proceed.

Speak with Lucia

Go to the quest icon and talk to Lucia to proceed. There will be a cutscene.

Speak with Alisaie

Talk to Alisaie to complete the quest.
