The Reason Roaille - Quest Guide

Before Minfilia can speak to you about the legends of Midgardsormr, you hear a commotion outside and go to investigate.

Requirements

This quest is available if you have completed the quest Eyes Unclouded.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Minfilia in the Rising Stones in Revenant's Toll in Mor Dhona to begin the quest.

Speak with Alphinaud

Exit the Solar and talk to Alphinaud.

Speak with Ilberd

Go outside and go southwest to reach Northern Thanalan. Then go south to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. Speak with Ilberd.

Speak with Ilberd at the Ceruleum Processing Plant

Go north to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. You will find Ilberd. There will be a glow around him, indicating an instanced battle. Check on Ilberd and there will be a cutscene, and then the battle will ensue.

Solo Duty: The Reason Roaille

This instanced battle will fail if you or Ilberd die.

First Wave

Kill the enemies in the following order.

  1. 7th Cohort Medicus
  2. 7th Cohort Sagittarius
  3. 7th Cohort Eques
  4. 7th Cohort Hoplomachus
  5. (Ignore the 7th Cohort Centurion for now)

Second Wave

Eventually, more enemies will appear. After a moment, two Death Claws will appear near the edge, then will attack Ilberd and Yuyuhase. Kill the claws first, and ignore the rest until the claws are dead. Kill order:

  1. 7th Cohort Death Claw x2 (Look for them near Ilberd and Yuyuhase)
  2. 7th Cohort Sagittarius
  3. 7th Cohort Eques
  4. 7th Cohort Hoplomachus

Third Wave

Another set of enemies appears, and this one includes a white-haired 7th Cohort Aquilifer. He tethers to the Colossus, restoring its health over time. Kill the Aquilifer first. Kill order:

  1. 7th Cohort Aquilifer
  2. Use multi-target attacks on the groups of enemies to defeat them all quickly.
  3. 7th Cohort Colossus

Final Wave

Yugiri and her shinobi will appear. Look for the red circle that she creates, and lure the enemies into it. Once all the other enemies are dead, attack Eline until she is defeated. This will end the battle. Kill order:

  1. 7th Cohort Vanguard x3
  2. Use multi-target attacks to lure the groups of enemies into the red circle that Yugiri created.
  3. Eline the Razor

Speak with Alphinaud Again

Talk to Alphinaud to complete the quest. There will be a cutscene. This one is important, so it is recommended to watch it either now or via the Unending Journey in an inn room.

Next Main Scenario Quest

After you complete the quest, talk to Alphinaud to accept the next quest: Let Us Cling Together.
