After you meet Papashan, he has a simple errand for you in Central Thanalan.

Requirements

This quest is only available if you started the game in Ul'dah, you have completed the quest We Must Rebuild, and you have reached level 5.

In Thanalan

Exit Ul'dah from the northern gate of the Steps of Nald area, or the eastern gate of the Steps of Thal area; or, if you have attuned to all of the aetherytes in Ul'dah, you can use one to go directly to Central Thanalan.

Hunting Log

If you have completed your level 1 job quest (which is highly recommended), then when you leave Ul'dah, you may see enemies with a target symbol over their heads. You can kill these to get bonus experience points from your Hunting Log. You can review your Hunting Log by choosing Logs from the Main Menu, then choosing Hunting Log. This will show you all the targets in the log, and the experience rewards for each.

Information about Enemies

Enemies with a blue icon next to their names won't attack you unless you attack them. Enemies with a red/yellow icon next to their names will attack you if you are fewer than 10 levels higher than them. Proceed with caution. Enemies that are a higher level than you will be more difficult to kill. If you die, you will be prompted to return to your home point.

Information on Gear Condition

Your gear condition is sometimes lowered after you kill enemies, and is also lowered if you die. You won't lose your gear if its condition drops to 0%, but you will no longer receive the stat bonuses from it, so until you repair it, it will be as if you're not wearing it. There is a mender in the marketplace who can repair your gear for a fee.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Papashan in the Dispatch Yard of Central Thanalan to start the next quest.

Deliver Pretzels

There will be three quest markers on the map. Go to each one and talk to them. You will be prompted to hand over the pretzel. With a mouse, you can click and drag the pretzel from the Key Items tab of your inventory into the Item Request window, or you can right-click the pretzel in the Key Items window and choose Hand Over. After you have selected the pretzel, click the Hand Over button to hand it over.

Speak with Papashan

After you have given the pretzels to all three patrols, Papashan will have a green check mark over his head. Go talk to him to complete the quest. As with the previous quest, you need to choose one of the options in the Options section to the right of the experience points in the window. Check each item carefully; it is specific to certain jobs, so be sure to pick the one that goes with your job. Or you can choose the gil, if you prefer.

Next Main Scenario Quest

After completing the quest, you can accept the next quest from Papashan: Underneath the Sultantree.
