Fire and Blood - Quest Guide

Alphinaud suggests finding Tataru, who may have gotten herself into trouble in the course of her investigations in the Brume.

Requirements

This quest is available if you have completed the quest Bloodlines, and have reached level 57.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Alphinaud in the Forgotten Knight in Ishgard to begin the quest.

Search for Tataru

Go down the stairs in the Forgotten Knight and go out the back door. Go down to the Brume and go to the orange circle on the map. You will find the sparkling Destination in the west side of the orange circle. Check on it to proceed.

Go east along the stone wall to find another sparkling Destination. Check on it and there will be a cutscene. This one is important, so it is recommended to watch it either now or via the Unending Journey in an inn room.

Speak with Hilda

Talk to Hilda to proceed.

Speak with Hilda at the Forgotten Knight

You can either go up the stairs near the Brume Aethernet Shard, walk along the stone wall, and go up the next set of stairs to reach the back entrance of the Forgotten Knight, or you can use the Brume Aethernet Shard to go to the Forgotten Knight Aethernet Shard and go through the front door. Then go to the quest icon on the map. There will be a glow around Hilda, indicating an instanced battle. Check on Hilda and there will be a cutscene, and then the battle will ensue. This cutscene is important, so it is recommended to watch it either now or via the Unending Journey in an inn room.

Solo Duty: Fire and Blood

Move away from your allies at the start of the battle. Charibert will periodically target you with a circle attack that leaves a flame puddle for the duration of the battle, which will give you a Burns status if you stand in it. You can keep your distance from your allies to prevent the flame puddles from forming near where they are standing.

First Wave

Kill the enemies in the following order.

  1. Ishgardian Chirurgeon
  2. 2x Temple Knight Magickers

Second Wave

Kill the enemies in the following order.

  1. Ishgardian Chirurgeon
  2. 2x Ishgardian Bannerets
  3. Ishgardian Heavy Infantry

Final Wave

Haurchefant will appear, and assist with the battle. You may sometimes be targeted with a red marker over your head. A fireball will slowly follow you; run away from it, and keep it away from your allies. Kill the enemies in the following order.

  1. Ishgardian Chirurgeon
  2. Temple Knight Magicker
  3. Ser Charibert the Stern

After the battle, there will be a cutscene.

Speak with Hilda Again

Talk to Hilda to complete the quest. There will be a cutscene.

Next Main Scenario Quest

After you complete the quest, talk to Hilda to accept the next quest: A Knight's Calling. There will be a cutscene.
