This page explains how to complete the Shadowbringers Main Scenario Quest "City of the Ancients".

Requirements

This quest is available if you have completed the quest Waiting in the Depths.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Y'shtola in the Tempest to begin the quest.

Speak with Y'shtola

Go northwest through the archway and go north from Pulshs Ooan (who is standing just beyond the archway). Go northwest to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. Talk to Y'shtola to proceed.

Inspect the Survey Point and Collect Scrapings

Go south to the nearest quest icon on the map. Check on the sparkling Survey Point. Zoom in and move the crosshairs over the upper middle part of the tower to focus on the Distinctive Window. Follow the on-screen instructions to Execute Confirm.

Then go northwest to the other quest icon. On the west side of the tower, dismount and target the Remnant Wall, and then you can either examine or target it and use the Mythril Knife on it from the Key Items section of your inventory, or you can target it and use the icon to the right of the quest name in your list of active quests.

Speak with Y'shtola Again

Go to the quest icon on the map and talk to Y'shtola. There will be a cutscene.

Find a Structure which Resembles Those in the Copy of the Qitana Ravel Mural

At any time, you can use the icon to the right of the quest name in your list of active quests to see a picture of the mural.

To reach the correct area, go west and walk across the glowing white plant, then keep going west to find a stone structure. Then, go to the northwest part of the stone structure and go north from there to find the sparkling Survey Point. Check on it to proceed. The specific location is ( X: 21.9 , Y: 10.9 ). There will be a cutscene.

Speak with Y'shtola Once More

Talk to Y'shtola to complete the quest.

Next Main Scenario Quest

After you complete the quest, talk to Y'shtola to accept the next quest: The Light of Inspiration.
