This quest is available if you have completed the quest Against the Dying of the Light.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Lucia in Ishgard to begin the quest. There will be a cutscene. This one is important, so it is recommended to watch it either now or via the Unending Journey in an inn room.

Rendezvous with Aymeric

Go outside and use the Aethernet Shard to go to the Jeweled Crozier Aethernet Shard. Use the nearby stairs to go up, then go northwest to the quest icon on the map. Solo Duty: As Goes Light, So Goes Darkness

Follow Aymeric and attack the Vault Friar that attacks you, but watch for enemies that attack the Ragged Refugee directly and kill them first. When all the enemies are gone, Aymeric will free the refugee.

Afterward, follow the others. Defeat the enemies that attack, then follow Aymeric.
