This page explains how to complete the level 90 post-Endwalker quest "An Unforseen Bargain".
Requirements
This quest is available if you have completed the quest Kindled Spirit.
Starting the Quest
Talk to the 1st Legion Soldier in Tertium in Garlemald to begin the quest. There will be a cutscene.
Speak with Alphinaud
There will be a glow around Alphinaud, indicating a solo duty. Check on him and there will be a cutscene, and then the duty will ensue.
Solo Duty: An Unforseen Bargain
Your hotbar/crossbar is replaced with a small number of actions. Sort Pet Hotbar allows you to change the order of these actions. Use Infernal Slice Combo to do a single-target attack on the enemy. Use Nightmare Scythe Combo to do a multi-target attack on the enemy. Use Bloodbath when you need to restore health. Use Engravement and Communio whenever they are available.
Throughout the battle, use Engravement and Communio whenever they are available. If there are multiple enemies, use Nightmare Scythe Combo repeatedly. If there is a single enemy, use Infernal Slice Combo. If you are running low on health, use Bloodbath. Dodge the many attack markers from the enemies.
Eventually, a Visitant Persona appears. Look away from the Visitant Persona whenever it is casting Inner Demons, a gaze attack.
Eventually, Furcas appears. Use Infernal Slice Combo on him, as well as Engravement and Communio whenever they are available.
At this point, Furcas casts Sinister Sphere, which causes a meteor circle marker to appear. Stand in it until it disappears, then immediately move on to the next one, and so on until there are no more meteor circle markers.
Kill the Visitant Voidskippers. Furcas will then move to the center, and there will be numerous circle attack markers that appear at random. Keep your distance from Furcas until he finishes casting Hellish Scythe, which is a circle attack centered on him. After the cast, get close to Furcas when you can. Untargetable fire orbs will also appear, and will cast line attacks aimed at you. If you haven't already gotten close to Furcas, do so when you can, so you can more easily move out of the way of Jester's Reward, an attack that hits one half of the area.
Blackout is a high-damage attack. Use Bloodbath after it, and continue using Infernal Slice Combo on Furcas to restore your health while your Bloodbath is active.
Furcas will then cast Sinister Sphere, making meteor circle markers appear again. At this point, the battle has become unwinnable. You can still try to stand in each meteor circle if you wish, but you will not be able to survive the battle. When your HP reaches 1, there will be a cutscene.
Second Phase
Use multi-target attacks on the enemies, then when Andromalius is the only enemy left, use single-target attacks on him.
Some untargetable Visitant Voidskippers will appear. Andromalius will cast Chain of Commands, tethering three of the Voidskippers. Then the tethers will disappear, and the second set of Voidskippers will be tethered. Each set will do a line attack across the area, in the order that the tethers appeared, but before their attacks, Andromalius will cast Dark, making circle markers cover much of the area. Stand in a safe area that is not in front of the first Voidskippers that will attack. Then when the first set of Voidskippers has done their attack, move out of the way of the second set of Voidskippers.
The Voidskippers now become targetable, so use multi-target attacks to get rid of them.
Evil Mist damages you and your allies.
Andromalius will cast Sinister Sphere, making meteor circles appear. After Alphinaud and Alisaie stand in two of the circles, you should stand in the unoccupied circle that is farthest from Zero.
Hellsnap will target you or an ally with a stack marker. If you are targeted, go to the middle so the others can stack together with you. If someone else is targeted, stack together with them.
Andromalius will move to the side and become untargetable, then will create four Voidcrystals. An Andromalius's Power gauge will fill up throughout this phase, so you need to destroy the Voidcrystals quickly. Attack each crystal one-by-one, focusing on the crystal that your allies are targeting.
After the crystals are gone, go to Alphinaud to stand in the shield that he creates. This will reduce the damage from Andromalius's Void Evocation attack.
Andromalius will summon more Visitant Voidskippers, tether each group in a certain order, and will cast Dark, placing circle attack markers over much of the area. As before, stand in a safe area that is not in front of the first Voidskippers that will attack. Then when the first set of Voidskippers has done their attack, move out of the way of the second set of Voidskippers.
The Voidskippers now become targetable, so use multi-target attacks to get rid of them.
Andromalius will again become untargetable. He will create several small Voidcrystals and larger Voidclusters. Focus on killing the Voidcrystals one-by-one. The boss will then summon various enemies. After some dialogue, the Voidclusters and Voidcrystals become untargetable. At this point, use single-target attacks on the enemies that will finish casting their spells the soonest, to prevent their spells from breaking Zero's concentration.
After Zero finishes her cast, Andromalius becomes targetable again and will repeatedly cast Dark Mist. Defeat Andromalius to complete the duty. There will be a cutscene.
Speak with Alisaie
Talk to Alisaie to complete the quest.
Next Main Scenario Quest
After you complete the quest, talk to Alphinaud to accept the next quest: King of the Mountain.
