A Father First - Quest Guide

Wuk Lamat needs to pay a visit to the palace.

Requirements

This quest is available if you have completed the quest The Feat of Pots.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Wuk Lamat in Tuliyollal to begin the quest.

Speak with Peshekwa

Use an Aethernet Shard or the main Aetheryte to go to the For'ard Cabins. Go to the quest icon and talk to Peshekwa to proceed.

Speak with the Sunperch Guard

Use the nearby Aethernet Shard to go to Vollok Shoonsa, then go northwest into the palace. Go northwest and up the stairs, then go to the quest icon. There will be a glow around the Sunperch Guard, indicating a solo duty. Check on the Sunperch Guard and there will be a cutscene, and then the duty will ensue.

Solo Duty: A Father First

Fancy Bladework is a high damage attack.

When Gulool Ja Ja casts Dual Blows, his swords will be numbered. The sword with one dot will hit everything on that side of Gulool Ja Ja, then the sword with two dots will the other side. Stand on the two-dot side first, then when the first attack goes off, move to the side where the first attack occurred.

Steeled Strike places two markers on you. Move away from the lines, because line attacks will occur there, wider than the line markers themselves.

When Gulool Ja Ja casts Coiled Strike, there will be blue or orange rotating blade markers next to him. Stand behind a blade marker so that the rotating blade indicator is moving away from you. Gulool Ja Ja will do two very wide cone attacks, with only two safe cone-shaped areas.

When he casts Battle Breaker, he becomes untargetable and performs a high-damage attack, then there is a brief mid-battle cutscene.

There will be a lot of circle attacks on random locations, and circle attacks will also follow you. Keep moving to avoid the attack markers.

Burning Sun telegraphs a sequence of circle attack markers. Make sure not to stand in any of the spots where there was a circle attack. They will leave some fire puddles in the area.

Battle Ender places a moving knockback marker on you. You will be knocked in the direction that the arrows are pointing, so make sure that the arrows are not pointing into any fire puddles.

Doubling creates three untargetable fire avatars of the boss. They will move to an edge of the area and perform line attacks that cover that half of the area, so don't be in front of the fire avatars.

The next time he casts Doubling, he casts The Thrill, creating two towers, one after the other. Stand in the first tower that appeared, and when the first attack occurs, move into the second tower.

When his health is 30%, Doubling will create three avatars that do a line attack down one half of the arena, while three other avatars will stand and watch. At the same time, you have to dodge Coiled Strike (stand behind a blade so the rotating blade is moving away from you), so be in the safe half of the area that the avatars are not facing, and be behind a blade to dodge Coiled Strike, but watch for three towers to appear. As soon as Coiled Strike goes off, stand in the towers in the order they appeared.

Clash is an Active Time Maneuver. When the Active Time Maneuver begins, you can quickly type randomly on the keyboard or quickly press random buttons on the controller to fill the gauge.
