How to clear Hippo Stage, also known as Space Zone Entrance, and Bubble Course, in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.

How to Reach Space Zone

Space Zone can be reached by going to the Hippo in the northwest part of the map and starting the stage in front of the hippo. Once you complete this stage, if you use the upper Goal Door, you will continue on to Space Zone.

How to Clear Hippo Stage

Go to the right to find a hippo with a bubble coming out of its nose. The bubble will grow and start floating away. Touch the bubble to go into it. While in the bubble, you can hold the jump button to float upward, but there is a slight delay before the upward movement begins.

Before you go to the right, go left and up in the bubble to find a ? Block. It contains a 1-Up Heart.

Then go to the right, where there are four sets of three coins in the air. Go downward from there, into the water. This makes the bubble disappear. Hit the ? Block in the water to get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower.

Then go to the left, and go down the narrow passageway, where there is a Fiery Block at the end. Hit it with a fireball to break it. Then, if there isn't a Birdfish swimming past, go up to the water and go left, then right, to make a Birdfish appear. Let it hit you to make you small, then you can go through the passage that the Fiery Block was blocking. Hit the ? Blocks to get a coin and two 1-Up Hearts.

Then go up to the water and swim left to find a ? Block that contains a Moneybag, which is worth 50 coins.

Then swim to the right, then jump up out of the water and go to the left to find the Hippo again. Get into a bubble and float to the right, hitting all the ? Blocks while avoiding going into the water and dodging Birdfishes. Keep going to the right, getting the coins in a wavy line, but don't hit the Unibo under the first high point of the wavy line. Underneath the second Unibo, there is a Hidden Block that contains a 1-Up Heart. Hitting that Hidden Block also defeats that Unibo, making it safe to get the 1-Up Heart.

After the wavy line, go right and hit the two ? Blocks to get coins. Then go down into the water and hit the two ? Blocks. The one on the right contains a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower. You can defeat the nearby Blurp fish by hitting a block when the fish is on top of it.

Then go up and to the right to find another hippo. Get into the bubble and go left and up to get the coins there, but don't let the Unibos burst your bubble.

Stay in the bubble and go to the right, and get the wavy lines of coins while dodging the Dondons that fly from the right. Go to the right to find a second wavy line of coins.

Then hit all the ? Blocks to the right. The sixth block from the right contains a Fire Flower. You can optionally get in the water below the ? Blocks to find three ? Blocks in some seaweed. These three blocks each contain one coin. If you do this, you should swim back to the left and get another bubble from the hippo.

Then go up and to the right from there. Look for clouds that make an arrow shape, and go up from there to find a small cloud. There is a Hidden Block in the bottom-right of the center of the cloud that you can reveal to get another Moneybag.

Then go down and right from there and hit the six ? Blocks to get six coins.

To the right, there are some Empty Blocks with coins above them. Try to collect those coins without losing your bubble. Then go to the right and use your bubble to float up and hit the Bonus Bell. If you try using the lower goal door, you will end up on the world map instead of proceeding to the Space Zone.

If you hit the Bonus Bell, you will play Amida Game II, also known as Amidakuji, Ladder Lottery, and Ghost Leg. Walk beneath one of the four plungers, then jump. A spark will travel along the wires from the plunger that you hit. The spark always travels sideways whenever there is a wire going sideways, unless a rat is blocking that wire. You will win the power-up or 1-Up that the spark travels to. This Amida Game II has a Super Mushroom, a Fire Flower, a Carrot, and a 1-Up.

After the Level

If you used the lower goal door, you will end up in the northwest part of the world map, where you can see Space Zone in the sky. You will need to repeat Hippo Stage and use the upper goal door to reach Space Zone.

If you used the upper goal door, you will proceed to Space Zone, where you can start the next level, Moon Stage.

Or you can go to any of the other zones:
