How to Begin a New Game

To begin a new game, press Start on the title screen and you will fall into a room with three pipes. Each pipe is a save slot. The number above each pipe represents how many stages have been cleared in that save slot. If there is a pipe with "00" above it, you can go down that pipe to start a new game. You will start the game in front of a Mushroom House. Press Start or A to begin the first stage, Mushroom Stage.

How to Play the Game In Easy Mode

When you are in the File Select screen, you can press the Select button to switch to Easy Mode. The words "Easy Mode" will appear on screen, and Mario will turn into regular-sized Mario. In addition, whenever you start a level in Easy Mode, the words "Easy Mode" will appear on the screen before the stage begins.

You can switch to Easy Mode whenever you are in the File Select screen, and you can switch back to normal mode by pressing Select again in the File Select screen. You can switch modes without erasing your saved progress.

How to Clear a Save Slot

If you want to delete your progress in a save slot, go to the right until you are standing beneath the "Clear" block, then press A to jump, and you will turn into Bomb Mario. Go to the left until you are standing on the save slot that you want to clear, then press down to go down that pipe. This resets the save slot to 0.
