A guide to completing World 8-2 in Super Mario Bros 1 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

To the right, a Lakitu will start dropping Spiny Eggs. Carefully go up the stairs, avoiding the Paratroopas bouncing their way down. At the top of the stairs, you can try to stomp on the Lakitu or hit it with a fireball.

To the right, there are four ?-mark blocks that each contain a coin.

To the right of that, there is a spring, but beware. If you jump straight up from the spring, a 1UP mushroom will appear above, and you will have to move quickly past three Paratroopas and some gaps in the ground (which are small enough to run over) before you can catch the 1UP, and you also have to be careful to avoid the Bullet Bill cannon at the very end.

After all that, go to the right to find a Paratroopa and two cannons stacked on top of each other, followed by another Paratroopa. Then there are two bricks, the rightmost of which contains a Mushroom or Flower.

Then there are several cannons and Buzzy Beetles. When you reach the cannon on a brick platform, you can hit the brick to the right of the cannon to get some coins (if you dare).

After that, there is a pipe, a Paratroopa over some gaps, and another pipe.

Then there are two small gaps followed by a large one. You need to stand on the left side of the pipe before the gaps and run to the right from there, and you'll have enough speed to run over the small gaps then jump over the large gap.

Next, go down the pipe to enter a secret area. Jump onto the brick on the right (which contains coins), then jump on the platform to the left, then jump left onto the ceiling, where you can try to jump left then fall right to enter the area with the coins. Then exit the secret area by going into the pipe.

If you didn't go into the pipe, there will be three Paratroopas to the right.

Next, there will be a cannon between some gaps. Jump onto the cannon, then run to the right to jump past the gap, but beware of the Goombas that come down the stairs after the gap.

Go past the stairs and beware of the Buzzy Beetle and cannons below. Keep going to the right to reach the final stairs in the level, where a Paratroopa is bouncing down, and there are gaps to jump over. At the top, make a running jump to the right to reach the goal pole, and you will move on to World 8-3.
