A guide to completing World 6-2 in Super Mario Bros 1 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Explore World 6-2
To the right, you find the first of many Piranha Plant pipes in this level. Go past it but not too far, and be careful of the Koopa Troopa below. Stand halfway between the two pipes and jump straight up to find a hidden block with a coin in it. Jump on that block, then jump straight up to get coins from the middle brick above.
Then you can optionally go left and down the first pipe to reach a secret area. In the secret area, jump onto the brick on the right (which contains coins), then jump on the platform to the left, then jump left onto the ceiling, where you can try to jump left then fall right to enter the area with the coins. Then go through the pipe to exit the secret area.
Go to the right and there are more Piranha Plant pipes, and if you didn't go to the secret area, there will be a green Paratroopa. To the right, there is an area with two bricks and a Buzzy Beetle. The brick on the right contains a Mushroom or Flower.
To the right of that, there is a pipe. There are three paths you can take: if you go down the pipe, you reach an underwater area, but you will miss a vine that leads to a lot of coins; if you skip the pipe, you can go up that vine and get the coins; or you can ignore the pipe and the vine. Pipe
In the underwater area, there is a Blooper in the lower half of the area that you can avoid by staying in the upper half.
To the right of that, there are some coins, but beware of the moving platforms. They keep moving down, and they will push you down into the bottomless pit if you get stuck beneath them.
After the two sets of moving platforms, if you swim below the two pink corals hanging from above, you will find two coins between two pits, but there are a lot of enemies in that area, and the bottomless pits will pull you downward. You can skip it by staying above the platform that the corals are hanging from.
To the right, there are coins on platforms, and the exit from the underwater area.
Jump up to the left to reach the brick above, then jump to the right onto the brick platform. After the bricks, there are a couple of Piranha Plant pipes down below, then if you jump onto the bricks to the right of those pipes, you can jump up and hit the leftmost brick above you to get a Starman. To the right, there is a Piranha Plant pipe between two staircases. You can go down the pipe to reach a secret area with coins and a brick on the right that contains a Mushroom or Fire Flower. Go through the pipe to exit the secret area.
There are several Piranha Plant pipes to the right, ending with a staircase that has a Piranha Plant in part of it and a Paratroopa bouncing down it. This is the final staircase, so go up to the top and make a running jump to the right to reach the goal pole and continue to World 6-3.
No Pipe
If you ignore the pipe and go to the right, there is a brick platform up above that has a Goomba on it. To the right, you find another brick platform. Go just past the pipe under the right side of this platform, then walk left so you are up against that pipe, then jump straight up to reveal a hidden block with a coin in it. You can now choose to go up a vine (which leads to a lot of coins) or skip the vine and go through the rest of the level.
Vine
To go up the vine, jump on the hidden block that you revealed (see above) then hit the rightmost brick above you. Touch the vine and press up to climb up it.
Go to the right and jump on the pearl platform. Jump to try to get as many coins as you can. You'll need to jump on some cloud platforms along the way to try to reach them all. Toward the end, there are some clouds with small gaps between them, and if you hold the B button, you can run across and you'll automatically "jump" over the gaps. From there, try to jump down through the three coins past the edge of the lower clouds.
You'll fall in an area with two brick platforms. There are several Piranha Plant pipes to the right, ending with a staircase that has a Piranha Plant in part of it and a Paratroopa bouncing down it. This is the final staircase, so go up to the top and make a running jump to the right to reach the goal pole and continue to World 6-3.
No Vine
If you don't want to go up the vine, go to the right, past several Piranha Plant pipes and a Buzzy Beetle on the ground. To the right, there is a pipe sitting on some bricks, and a brick platform to the right with a Buzzy Beetle on it. Jump onto the brick next to the pipe, then jump to the right onto the long brick platform, and go right. There are a couple of Piranha Plant pipes down below, then if you jump onto the bricks to the right of those pipes, you can jump up and hit the leftmost brick above you to get a Starman. To the right, there is a Piranha Plant pipe between two staircases. You can go down the pipe to reach a secret area with coins and a brick on the right that contains a Mushroom or Fire Flower. If you skip it, you will encounter a Buzzy Beetle and Goomba after the pipe.
