A guide to completing World 4-4 in Super Mario Bros 1 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Explore World 4-4

Go to the right, then jump up onto the upper level, where there are no enemies and a fire bar. (The lower level has a Piranha Plant pipe and a fire bar.) Run to the right to automatically jump over the gaps.

To the right there are some platforms and fire pits, and beyond that, there are three paths you can take. However, the top and middle path will just loop you back to the fire pits and platforms, so go down to the lowest path, but beware of the fire bar along the way.

This will take you to Bowser's bridge. This time, there is a fire bar on the bridge, and a Podoboo jumping up and down. There is also no platform over Bowser's head this time, so you have to either shoot him with fireballs, or carefully jump over or under him.

After you get past Bowser, you'll meet yet another mushroom retainer who says their princess is in another castle. Then you'll continue to World 5-1.
