A guide to completing World 7-1 in Super Mario Bros 1 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Explore World 7-1

There are a lot of cannons in this level that shoot Bullet Bills, so be careful.

Go to the right and jump over the cannon, and there will be a Paratrooper bouncing around. After that, there is another cannon, and if you jump on top of the cannon and hit the leftmost brick above you, you get a Mushroom or Flower.

Go to the right and there will be more cannons, as well as four ?-mark blocks that just contain coins.

Go right until you find a cannon that is sitting on a brick platform. If you hit the brick to the right of the cannon, you can get coins.

To the right of that, there is a gap, then a Piranha Plant pipe, then two Hammer Brothers. If you're Fire Mario, you can hit them with fireballs. Otherwise, you can jump up to hit the brick they are standing on, or you can try to jump on their heads when they don't have a hammer above them.

To the right of that, there is a pipe, and if you collected all the coins in World 6-3 without dying, or if you warped to 7-1 via Warp Zone, you can jump straight up while standing on the left side of the pipe to get a hidden 1UP. Try to catch the 1UP before it goes too far away, because the pipe just after the Hammer Bros. has a secret area if you go down the pipe.

Go right and you find one or more pipes, one or two cannons (depending on if you went into the secret area or not), and another pair of Hammer Bros.

After the Bros, there is a short pillar of blocks, a pair of cannons stacked on top of each other, and some brick platforms. You can use the spring (press jump when it's compressed) to hit the block directly above the spring, which contains a Mushroom or Flower.

To the right, there is a short staircase, followed by a tall staircase with a Buzzy Beetle on it. The tall staircase is the last one in the level, so go to the top and make a running jump from it to reach the goal pole and continue to World 7-2.
