A guide to completing World 4-2 in Super Mario Land for Nintendo Game Boy.

Explore World 4-2

The platforms to the right look like moving platforms, but they don't actually move. Go to the right and you find a Bombshell Koopa beneath ? blocks, each of which contains one coin.

Go to the right and there are two Bombshell Koopas, as well as a Pompon Flower. It slowly walks to the left, sometimes stopping to spit pollen straight up. You can hit it with two Superballs to defeat it, or just stomp it, but make sure not to try stomping it when it's about to spit pollen. The rightmost of the two ? blocks contains a Mushroom or Flower.

To the right, there is a gap, with a pipe just after the gap, and the pipe contains a Pipe Cannon. Go down the pipe with the cannon to reach a room full of coins. You will need to have Superballs if you want to collect all the coins.

After you exit the pipe, go to the right and jump on the platforms. After you go past a pipe, you find a Nyololin, which doesn't move, but spits fireballs diagonally downward at you. You can stomp it or hit it with a Superball to defeat it.

To the right, if you're Super Mario, you can break the bricks just to the right of where the snake was, and you can enter an area with coins and ? blocks, but beware of the Bombshell Koopa in the pit with the coins. The leftmost ? block has a Mushroom or Flower, while the rest just contain one coin each.

If you were unable to enter the coin area, you have to get past three Piranha Plants coming out of the pipes below.

Next, there is another coin area that you can reach if you can break the bricks. All the ? blocks in this second coin area just contain one coin each.

If you were unable to enter the second coin area, you have to get past two Piranha Plants, a Pipe Cannon, a Goombo, and a third Piranha Plant.

After that, there is a Bombshell Koopa going back and forth on a high ledge, followed by another Pompon Flower, and a couple of ? blocks, the left of which contains a Mushroom or Flower.

Next, you reach an area with a spinning Roto Disc. Make sure not to let it hit you as you go past. Then there are two pipes, with a Piranha Plant in the second one, and a Roto Disc that you need to dodge as you get past the tall pipe.

To the right, there are two Roto Discs with a Goombo in between, then two more pipes, and a Roto Disc above the pipes.

Jump over the gap and dodge the Roto Disc while trying to hit the ? block, which contains a Star. Collect it to become temporarily invulnerable.

Jump onto the moving platform, then carefully jump onto the next one. Next, there is a Bombshell Koopa, and a Roto Disc spinning around a ? block, which contains a Mushroom or Flower. There is another Bombshell Koopa and Roto Disc after that.

Jump across the next two moving platforms, but stay on the solid platform just after the moving platforms. Stand on the left side of the solid platform and jump straight up to reveal a hidden brick that contains some coins.

To the right, there is a Bombshell Koopa, and a Nyololin that spits fireballs. Defeat the Nyololin and get the two coins above where it was. Then go the right, but be careful of the Roto Disc and the Bombshell Koopa.

Go to the right, and there is another Roto Disc after the gap, as well as some pipes. Go down the leftmost pipe to find a room full of coins. You'll need to have Superballs to get all the coins.

After you exit the pipe, go to the right. If you went down the pipe, there won't be enemies nearby, but if you didn't go down the pipe, you'll have to get past Roto Discs and a Bombshell Koopa.

Go to the right and there is another Nyololin, and a Bombshell Koopa with two coins above it. Then there is a Roto Disc, then a Bombshell Koopa on a high platform.

After that, fall to the right while pushing toward the right, and you will land on the platform just after the gap. Then hold the run button while you go to the right, and you'll automatically jump over the gaps between the bricks. There is a Piranha Plant just after the bricks, so beware.

Get on the moving platform, then when you reach the top, go to the right, and keep pushing toward the right to reach solid ground after the Dropping Lift. Then jump up the Dropping Lifts to reach the bricks up above, and hold the run button to get past the gaps and reach the Bonus Game door. Then you will reach the final level, World 4-3!
