Goemon and Ebisumaru investigate rumors of a ghost woman in the temple to the north.
Warlock Zone I: Ōedo Village
The enemies you encounter here are:
- the fishmonger, who will drop his fish if you hit him, and then you have to hit the fish
- the official, who either wields a spear or throws lanterns
- the ronin
- the komuso
Be sure not to hit the girl (Ohana) because you will lose $100 if you do. Instead you need to collect her to receive $50.
Nothing in the southern area is open yet. In the middle area (where you start the game) you can buy sandals to walk more quickly, pizza to automatically heal you if you run out of health, and bombs to throw at enemies. You can buy multiples of each, so feel free to buy as many as you can afford. You can hold up to 10 sandals and 3 pizzas and 30 bombs at a time.
For every 10 scrolls that you get, your "pow" number increases by 1. You can see how many scrolls you have collected by pressing START to pause the game. You can't use them yet, but they will be helpful later.
You can press R to switch to throwing coins (which reduces your spending money) and if you buy bombs, you can press R to switch to those too.
When you're ready, you can go to the northern area, where there will be a brief cutscene, during which you can't move. after this, the whole town is full of monsters, even the southern areas. But the restaurant in the northern part of town is still open. the $40 meal restores 4 units of health, the $60 meal restores 6 units, and the $80 restores 8.
Throughout town you find ghosts (round slow moving ones and skinny ones that bounce diagonally), brown creatures that roll and bounce. In the southern part of town there are hairy monsters called Kijimuna that sit around talking until they see you, at which point they bounce toward you.
The maze and the job center in the north part of town are closed for now.
In the northern part of town, on the west side, between the entrance to the maze and the entrance to horo-horo temple, you can hit the rightmost bamboo to reveal a hidden Kid Dracula worth $100.
At this point you should go into Horo-Horo Temple.
