In the northern part of Ōedo Village, a ghost invasion begins, and you enter Horo-Horo Temple to track down the source.
Warlock Zone I: Horo-Horo Temple
Go to the right and you will talk to the giant tanuki statue.
Go to the right and kill the undead warriors. The second and fourth stone lamps will each have a Horo Temple Ghost that looks like a flame. It flies out of the lantern and tries to hit you.
Go to the right, killing more undead warriors and Horo Temple Ghosts. Don't fall onto the sharp bamboo pit or you will take damage. because of the wide gap of sharp bamboo, you will need to jump up to the upper level and kill the flame that is going back and forth over the gap, and then jump over the gap.
Farther ahead, there is another wide gap of sharp bamboo, and you'll have to go to the upper area and kill the flame that is going back and forth and jump over there. You will find a bell, but as you approach it, flames will surround you. Hit the bell and all of the flames will instantly die.
If you go to the right of the bell, then start making your way down each ledge (jump while pressing down) you can reach a gravestone almost directly below the bell at ground level. Hit this gravestone to reveal a hole in the ground. Fall in and hit the pots and collect the chests to get a scroll, a lucky cat, a treasure box worth $100, a golden lucky cat that increases your maximum health by 2, and a coin. Note that to get all the treasure box you need at least 2 pairs of sandals, and to get the golden lucky cat you need at least 3. At the right side, go up the stairs.
You will end up a bit to the right of the gravestone. Stay on the lower area to avoid the floating Kasa-Obake. Up ahead, hit the pot to get an elephant (only in 1-player mode) which will let you start at this point if you lose all your lives.
Be careful as you go over the gaps to the right because there are Earth Men that pop up out of the ground. You can see the dirt moving where they are about to appear.
Keep going to the right and you will reach the area with the boss: ghost woman. She will throw spinning plates at you. Your weapons don't affect her. The only way to inflict damage is to hit the spinning plates such that they hit her.
afterward, ninja cat kurobei appears, gives you $100 and says to go to Shikoku Island to meet the cat boss, Koban. You'll automatically take the $100.
Afterward, hit the pot to get some coins.
There will now be pickpockets in the north part of town that will run more quickly if you're in the same line as them, and you'll lose money if they hit you.
You can now enter the maze in the northern part of town. It costs $100. The prizes you can find are 2 bombs (each one is worth 10), $100, a set of 5 scrolls, a 1up, and a scroll that fills out the dungeon map (press B to view).
B=10 bombs 1=1up S=5 scrolls $=$100 M=maze map (press B) B... ...... . . . 1. ... S. $ . . . .. ........ . . . . . .... .M . B . ........... . ...........
The job center is now open and you can play Whack-a-Mole, Paint (try to make the longest line without crashing into your own line), and Goblin (hold B to throw the balls and try to throw it into the vase when it's over the goblin's head). You'll get paid based on how well or poorly you do.
You can now go to the fortune teller in the southern part of town. "Bad things in your future" means the building will be surrounded by enemies when you go out. "Nothing special" means there won't be anything outside of the building when you first go out. "Good things" means there will be Ohana girls around the building and you can collect them for money.
The dice shop is open as well. You have to guess high or low. You can choose how much money to bet, then three dice are rolled. The odds are 50-50, so you have an equal chance of the number being high or low.
To reach Shikoku Island you need to use the travel agency in the right side of the southern part of town. Feel free to choose whichever tour package you want. It changes the cutscene and you will also have some health restored if you pick pack B or C. Whichever you choose, you'll soon arrive on Shikoku Island.
