A guide to completing World 3-2 in Super Mario Bros 2 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Cross the Plains

Go to the right and beware of the Shyguy riding an Ostro. You can jump on top of the Shyguy to pick it up, then throw it at the Ostro. Or you can pick up the Ostro and throw it.

As you go to the right, beware of the Beezos that swoop down.

Keep going right, pick up one of the veggies, and go to the right and throw the veggie at the Panser.

Keep going to the right and there are two Shyguys riding Ostros. If you pick up a POW block you are likely to fall down below. If you want a shortcut and don't mind skipping a Mushroom and four coins, just go to the right, past the Snifit, and down the ladder, and skip to After the Ladder.

Otherwise, if you fell and you want to go back up to get the Mushroom and four coins, you can do a Power Squat Jump (crouch until flashing, then jump) to get out of the pit. Then go to the right, past a Snifit, then ignore the two tufts of grass and jump up onto the hill. Pick up the leftmost grass on the hill to get a Potion. Stand on the left side of the hill, face the left side and drop the Potion on the ground so the door up against the left side of the hill. Go through to get a Mushroom and four coins.

After you exit Subspace, go to the left of the broken blocks in the ground, pick one of the grasses, and put the bomb on a broken block. Go down through the hole, then go down the ladder.

After the Ladder

It can be difficult to correctly bomb the walls in this area, but if you make a mistake, you can just go back to the previous room, then return to this room to try again. Go to the left and get up onto the upper level. Pick one of the grasses, then carefully fall off the right edge and throw the bomb at the broken blocks on the left. Go up the ladder, take another grass, carefully fall off the right side, go left and throw the bomb at the broken blocks on the left. Now you can use the two grasses on the lower level to break through the remaining broken blocks on the bottom left. Before you continue, you can optionally go up the ladder, drop a bomb next to the wall on the right, then take the POW block, and carry to the right to carefully fall off the right side to the lower level, and go left with the POW block. Otherwise, just go left past the blocks that you bombed.

As you go left, there are three Tweeters. If you took the POW block, you can drop it to defeat all three. Otherwise, you can try to pick one up and throw it at the other two.

Either way, jump up onto the platform (use a Power Squat Jump if you can't reach it normally), then go up the ladder. From there, just go left while avoiding the Panser's fireballs and then down the next ladder.

Go left and jump along the platforms. The Shyguy doesn't fall off of the platform, so be careful. Go up the ladder after the Shyguy platform, then go left, dodge any Beezos that swoop at you, and go down the next ladder.

There are three grasses in the upper area. Pick one and go to the left side of the ledge, wait until the bomb starts flashing, hold it for about a half a second, then drop it. If you timed it correctly, it will explode on the broken blocks on the left and you can go through.

After you make it past the broken blocks, go partway up the ladder but not all the way. You can optionally go left to get another Mushroom and two coins. You will find broken blocks in the floor with Porcupos beneath them. Pick the leftmost grass to get a bomb, then drop it on the broken blocks on the right. Then, pick up the rightmost grass to get a Potion, drop on the spot where the grass was, go through and get the Mushroom on the left and the two coins from the grass.

After you exit Subspace, go to the right and go up the ladder, then go through the door to reach the Red Birdo's room.

Red Birdo

Go left from the ladder and you'll find the Red Birdo. As before, pick up an egg, avoid the fireballs the Red Birdo sometimes shoots, and wait for the a pause in the projectiles to throw the egg at Red Birdo. Pick up the Crystal Ball when it drops, pick up a Mushroom Block to go down below, then go to the right and enter the Mask Gate. Play Bonus Chance if you got coins, and you'll continue to World 3-3.
