How to create and delete save files in StarTropics, and an explanation of Review Mode.

Create a Save File

Press START at the title screen to go to the file select screen. At the file select screen, if the cursor is not already at "Register Your Name", press SELECT until it is. Then press START, and if you wish to use a different save file instead of the one that the cursor is on, press SELECT to move the cursor to it.

Then you can use the directional pad to move the cursor to the character that you want, and press A to add that character to your name. The bottom-right character adds a space to your name. The B button makes the cursor go forward but doesn't add or erase any characters. The name can be up to 8 characters long.

When you are done entering your name, press SELECT to move the cursor to "END", then press START to finalize your name. Then if the cursor isn't on the save file that you want to use, press SELECT to move it there, then press START to begin the game with Chapter 1: Prelude.

Delete a Save File

To delete a save file, at the file select screen, press SELECT to move the cursor to "Elimination Mode". Then press SELECT to choose the save file to delete, and press START to delete the selected save file.

Review Mode

Review Mode lets you replay the previous chapter without affecting your saved game. You won't keep any power-ups that you collect while in Review Mode, but you can use this mode to look for any secrets that you might have missed, without affecting your progress.

To use Review Mode, press SELECT on the file select screen until the cursor is on "Review Mode", then choose a save file that is on chapter 2 or later.
