This page lists the durability of every type of tool, along with the conditions for reducing tool durability.
Tool Durability
Tools will break after a certain number of uses. The following lists tell you how many times you can use each tool before it breaks.
Axes
Axe durability is only reduced when you hit a tree.
Flimsy Axe | Breaks after 40 times hitting trees | |
Axe/Stone Axe | Breaks after 100 times hitting trees | |
Golden Axe | Breaks after 200 times hitting trees |
Shovels
Shovel durability only decreases when you hit a rock or dig up an item. Empty holes do not affect shovel durability.
Slingshots
Slingshot durability is only reduced when you successfully pop a balloon.

Fishing Rods
Fishing rod durability is only reduced when you successfully catch something.
Nets
Net durability is only reduced when you successfully catch something.

Watering Cans
Watering can durability is reduced every time you water flowers, but it is also reduced if you use it without watering any flowers—just not as much as if you had watered flowers.
