This page explains how to start a new game of Pokémon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire.

Choose the Language

When you first run the game, it will show you the languages that you can play the game in. After you start the game, you won't be able to change the language. If you need to change the language, you will have to start a new game. There is only one save slot, so make sure to choose the right language.

After you make your language selection, the game will ask if you want to start the game, or change the language. Choose Begin Game if you have chosen the language that you want.

Start a New Game

After you choose the language, you can watch the intro. Press any button or touch the touch screen to skip the intro.

At the beginning of the game, Professor Birch introduces himself and tells you about the world of Pokémon.

Then Professor Birch asks if you are a boy or a girl. Use the control pad + or circle pad to choose the picture of the boy (on the left) or the picture of the girl (on the right).

Then Professor Birch asks for your name. Enter any name you wish. The official name for the boy character is Brendan, and the official name for the girl character is May.

Afterward, Professor Birch asks you to confirm your name.

After that, the Professor asks you to go to his pokémon lab in Littleroot Town.

When the truck stops, you can save the game. Just tap the icon on the bottom of the screen that has a stylus in it. Once you save the game, you can access Mystery Gift and Live Competition from the main screen the next time you run the game.

Between November 21, 2014 and January 14, 2015, you could get a Shiny Beldum from Mystery Gift. Go to the main menu of the game, choose Mystery Gift, and choose to get the gift from the Internet.

Then, exit the truck by walking to the right. Use the control pad or circle pad to walk. When you leave the truck, you will be in Littleroot Town.
