Planes in Pocket Planes are used to fly passengers and cargo, which earns coins. Read this page to learn how to make the best use of planes in Pocket Planes.
How to Buy Planes
Tap the green Menu button in the bottom right. Then tap Market on the middle left. You will see a list of plane parts and fully-assembled planes that you can use Bux to purchase. It is cheaper to buy plane parts and put the plane together yourself than to buy a fully-assembled plane. The items in the market change every 11 minutes, so be sure to buy what you want before it goes away.
Each plane requires a Body, Controls, and Engine in order to be built.
How to Build Planes
Tap the green Menu button in the bottom right, then tap Parts. You will see a list of parts that you have. You can sell those parts for coins from this screen. Tap the Build button in the bottom middle to see a list of planes that you have parts for. If you have all three parts for the plane (Body, Controls, and Engine) you can tap Build to spend the required number of Bux to build the plane.
Adding Plane Slots
Tap the Plane List button in the bottom right. Scroll to the bottom of the plane list and tap Add Plane Slot to spend the displayed number of coins to add another slot to put a plane in. If you do not have an available plane slot, you can't build a new plane.
Checking Plane Profits
Tap the green Menu button in the bottom right, then tap logs. You will see a list of planes along with the amount of time that they have flown and the amount of profit that they have earned per hour. Tap the coin button in the bottom middle to sort the list by profits. The most profitable plane in your fleet is listed at the top and the least profitable is at the bottom.
Plane Class
The most basic planes are Class 1. These planes can land at any airport. Class 2 planes can only land at class 2 airports or higher, and so on. If you don't have many class 2 or higher airports, you might not want to buy class 2 planes until you do.
Upgrading Planes
You can make your planes more profitable by spending Bux to upgrade them. Tap the Plane List in the bottom right, then tap a plane that is in an airport (you can't upgrade a plane while it is flying.) Tap the Plane Info button in the bottom left, then tap Upgrade. You can upgrade the fuel tanks, the engine, or the carbon fiber by spending the displayed number of Bux.
- Upgrading the fuel tanks increases the range of the plane. This means that the plane can go farther.
- Upgrading the engine increases the speed of the plane. This means that the plane can finish jobs more quickly, which means that it makes a better profit per hour.
- Upgrading the carbon fiber decreases the weight of the plane. This reduces the cost of flying the plane.
Unlocking New Planes
New planes become available when you level up. You level up by earning experience points. You earn experience points every time you receive a payment for a flight.
Removing Planes
If there is a plane that you want to remove from service, tap the Plane List in the bottom right, then tap a plane that is in an airport (you can't remove a plane while it is flying.) Tap the Plane Info button in the bottom left, then tap Remove to move the plane to the hangar. Keep in mind that it costs Bux to put the plane back into active service. When you remove a plane, it opens up a plane slot.
Scrapping Planes
After you remove a plane, tap the green Menu button in the bottom right, then tap Hangar. You will see a list of planes that you have removed from service. Tap the Scrap button next to a plane. This will separate the plane into parts. Go back to the Menu and tap the Parts button to see the parts from the scrapped plane. You can now sell those parts for coins.
