There are various special items hidden around the world. This page explains how to find and use them.

Mystery Items

Mystery Items are listed on the left side of the Key Items screen. The items you can find, and the steps to get them, are listed below. These items are used for one of the endings.

Book of Changes

Find the traveling merchant four times to get the Book of Changes. The traveling merchant can be found in the eastern half of the island. After finding the merchant for the fourth time, you get the Book of Changes.

Guild IOU

Go to the Guild LLC and go up the ladder to the investment game. Deposit 1000¢, then try to withdraw it all 1000¢ and you will get the IOU. (You can deposit more than 1000¢ if you wish, but the bank won't let you withdraw any of it after you get the IOU. This may be a bug.)

Beta Cup

Find the Strange Cave in the eastern half of the island, and talk to the person outside of it, then go inside and kill all the monsters that appear. You will get the Beta Cup.

Patent No. 950996

Find the Status Effects Shop in the eastern half of the island. Then find the Strange Cave in the eastern half of the island to get Tressa's phone number. Call it, then talk to Paige. Then go to the Guild LLC and answer the security questions. The answers can be found in the Status Effects Shop. (Older brother: Potter, younger brother: Tunley.) Then call Tressa's Mom, and finally, go into any dungeon to meet Tressa, who gives you the patent.

Error Log

Find the woodcutter in the eastern half of the island. He gives you an axe. Use it in the overworld whenever you find trees or other objects at the edge of the screen that shake when you push them. This will reveal a glitched area with rare items inside. The first time you do this, the woodcutter gives you the Error Log.

Paige's Locket

To obtain Paige's Locket, you need to find at least 12 library books. They can be randomly found by killing monsters, cutting bushes, lifting skulls, etc.

After obtaining enough books, you can talk to Paige and she will give you a quest to kill 10 pink marshmallows and collect their corpses. Pink marshmallows can be found in dungeons, and they are also guaranteed to appear if you play the Hallucination Game in the Strange Cave in the eastern half of the island.

After you have 10 marshmallows, talk to Paige and say yes. After a cutscene, you will get the locket.

Police Report

Somewhere in the western part of the map, you can find the 3 Bears' Cottage. Go in and agree to help, then hide from Goldilocks when she comes in. Just hide behind furniture, such as tables, bookshelves, boxes. When she goes up to the next room, stay to the right, because she starts on the left side of the second room. Once you successfully catch her, the soldier will leave the police report on the floor near the bed. Be sure to pick it up.

Woodcutter's Axe

The woodcutter can be found somewhere in the eastern half of the island. Talk to him to get the Woodcutter's Axe. Use it in the overworld whenever you find trees at the edge of the screen that shake when you push them. This will reveal a glitched area with rare items inside.

Hidden Items

There are some items that can only be found in secret rooms of dungeons, or secret overworld areas only accessible with the Woodcutter's Axe. They are listed below.

Revolver

The revolver has a single bullet, and will kill any enemy in one shot, even bosses, including the final boss. It's not possible to get more bullets, so you can only use it once.

Buoy

The buoy lets you swim. Normally you have to get one of the dungeon treasures to swim, so you may be able to do some sequence breaking if you find the buoy first.

Cross Bombs

Cross Bombs work like regular bombs, but they explode in a + shape.

Glider Bombs

Remote controlled bombs that you can move around with the controller. You won't be able to move Lenna while moving the glider, so be careful.

Spring Shoes

The spring shoes upgrade your spring to allow you to double-jump.

Phoenix Ash

The phoenix ash can be found randomly in the world. If you find it, you can use it on Henrietta. See the pets page for more information.

Hammer

Hammy's house can be found in the east half of the island. Use a bomb to blow up his door, then go in to get the hammer. You can use it to break things that bombs can break.

Lasso and Chain

The lasso can be found in one of the dungeons. It's random. It can be used to pull enemies and items toward you.

The chain can be found in secret overworld areas, accessed by finding small trees or bushes on the edge of the screen that shake when you touch them, and using the Woodcutter's Axe on them. The Chain replaces the Lasso, so if you find the Chain first, there is no need to get the Lasso. In addition to pulling items toward you, the chain can be used on walls to pull yourself across gaps. It also damages enemies in addition to pulling them toward you.

Weapon Blueprints

You can get weapon blueprints by killing bosses in mini-dungeons that are hidden down ladders and in caves. The available blueprints as of version 1.1.5 are the lance, the claymore, and the stiletto. Talk to the Blacksmith to get them. As with other blacksmith weapons, you will need to exchange meteors to get them.

Ventricles

You can find a total of four ventricles hidden in the world. Find all four to increase your fortitude by one heart.
