This page has an overview of how to play Disco Zoo and includes tips and advice for earning coins and Discobux, rescuing animals, unlocking new aircraft on the Helipad, and more.
How to Play: an Overview
The goal of Disco Zoo is to build a zoo by rescuing animals from the wild. To go on an animal rescue mission, you must go to the Helipad and use one of your aircraft. Each rescue mission costs a certain number of coins, and the cost increases every time you go on a mission.
During a rescue mission, you must tap on the grid to reveal what is hidden in each square. There are animals hiding in the grid, and each animal is three or four squares in size. An animal's shape is always the same, and the shape does not rotate. See the list of animal shapes for reference.
You can unlock new types of animals by buying new aircraft. To buy new aircraft, go to the Helipad and tap on the aircraft that you want to unlock. Before you can get the new aircraft, you have to have the required number of animals in your zoo. You also need to spend the required number of coins to purchase the aircraft.
How to Earn Coins
Your zoo will automatically earn coins as long as some of your animals are awake. Your zoo exhibits will close after a certain amount of time because all the animals in the exhibit will fall asleep after a while. You can wake them up by tapping on the exhibit, or by throwing a disco party (see the "Disco Parties" section later on this page).
The more animals you have, the more coins you will earn. You can see the number of coins you earn per minute in the top left corner of the screen. This number decreases whenever any of your animals fall asleep.
You can also earn coins by watching the zoo visitors. They might throw out some coins at random. Tap them before they disappear to add them to your funds.
You can also find coins during rescue missions. Some of the squares in the grid have coins hidden in them.
Some of your animals might hide in different exhibits. Sue, the zookeeper, will tell you if this happens. Look in your exhibits for the missing animals and tap them to return them to the correct exhibit. Sue might give you coins as a reward for finding the escaped animals.
You might also receive random coin rewards. If this happens, a purple icon will appear in the top right corner with a smiley face on it. Tap that to show the reward that you earned.
How to Earn Discobux
Discobux is another currency available in the game that is harder to find.
Discobux can sometimes be found during rescue missions. If there is a Discobux hidden in the grid, it will be listed at the top instead of a hidden animal. Just tap on the squares to try to find it.
You can also earn Discobux by watching the zoo visitors. On rare occasions, a visitor will throw out a Discobux. Tap it before it disappears to collect it.

Disco Parties
You can spend Discobux to throw disco parties. A disco party keeps your animals awake and happy. They will earn twice as many coins during a disco party as they normally would. A one-hour disco party is a great way to earn a large number of coins.
