Choose the Games that You Want to Trade Between
To begin, choose the game to trade from, OR use the form below.
This page explains how to trade from Pokémon Emerald to Pokémon Sapphire.
What You Need
Each player needs a Game Boy Advance. Trading between these games can ONLY be done with GBAs, NOT with Nintendo DSs. You also need a Game Boy Advance Link Cable (the GBA Wireless Adapter is NOT compatible with Ruby or Sapphire).
In-Game Requirements
Before you can trade from Pokémon Emerald to Pokémon Sapphire, you need to get the Pokédex from Professor Birch in Littleroot Town, and you need to have at least two pokémon in your party.
How to Trade
Make sure to connect your GBAs with a Link Cable. (The GBA Wireless Adapter cannot be used to trade from Pokémon Emerald to Pokémon Sapphire.)
Go to a Pokémon Center and go upstairs. Talk to the person in the middle. Say Yes when asked if you want to trade, then say Yes when asked to save the game, and say Yes when asked if it is OK to overwrite the previous save. Press A to confirm the next choices. Check on the computer in the middle of the room.
Now select the pokémon that you want to trade, and choose TRADE when prompted. You will see the pokémon that the other player wants to trade. Choose YES to start the trade.
