You have prepared for the mission to rescue the Oracle, but now you must find transportation.

Requirements

This quest is available if you have completed the quest The Crystarium's Resolve.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Szem Djenmai in the Crystarium to begin the quest.

Speak with Szem Djenmai

Go to the quest icon on the map and talk to Szem Djenmai. You will automatically mount an amaro and will be able to fly in Lakeland until you dismount. If you dismount, you can get back on the amaro by going to the ❕ exclamation mark in Lakeland to talk to Szem Djenmai again.

Aether Currents

This is a good opportunity to attune to the aether currents in Lakeland if you wish. You can use the Aether Compass (found in Main Menu > Duty > Collection) to help you find them.

Ride the Amaro to the Sentry

Fly northwest to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. Fly to the glowing spot on the ground. At this point, if you dismount, you can get back on the amaro by going to the ❕ exclamation mark in Lakeland to talk to the Round Sentry again.

Ride the Amaro to Szeli Vantheu

Fly west to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. Fly to the glowing spot on the ground.

Speak with Szeli Vantheu

Talk to Szeli Vantheu to proceed.

Speak with Lyna

Go northwest and you can attune to the Aetheryte if you have not yet done so. Then go to the Skywatcher (where the chocobo weathervane icon is on the map—not to be confused with the saddled chocobo icon on the map) and go up the wooden stairs next to the Skywatcher. At the top, talk to Lyna to complete the quest.

Aether Current Quests

With the completion of this quest, you can now start three blue quests, each of which unlocks an Aether Current in Lakeland. The quests are as follows.

• An Unreasonable Request
• Imperative Repairs
• The Astute Amaro

Unlock Flying in Lakeland

The blue quests listed above are the final quests for unlocking Aether Currents in Lakeland. If you have completed the other Aether Current quests and attuned to the Aether Currents in the field in this area (which you can find using the Aether Compass in Main Menu > Duty > Collection in this area) you will be able to fly in Lakeland.
